🐾💚 Friday fun 💚🐾

Group walk today with Stanley, Willow and Kato 🥰 they were all soooooo well behaved! They are a good group anyway but they were all on their best behaviour today. Nice sniffy walk through the woods and some off lead play.

Finished off the week with Chubs who just wanted to make friends with every person we saw, the boy loves a fuss and cuddle 💙

🐾💙 Solo walk Wednesday 💙🐾

Back with all the boys today. Moon, Loki, Ralph Chubs and Mickey. The rain held off until Chubs’ walk so I thought I’d got away with it but it absolutely tipped it down! No waterproofs and no sleeves, I was soaked and cold (still better than a heatwave though 😅)

Now I’m off to feed, water and hopefully cuddle 4 cats I’m pet sitting for 🥰

From a heatwave last week to rain this week 🤣 I think the boys quite enjoyed getting wet today though and splashing through puddles ☔️

🐾❤️ Friday & the end of the heatwave ❤️🐾

Me and the dogs were very happy the temperature was much cooler 🙌🏽 No Willow today so Moon joined the group walk as his Wednesday walk was cancelled. Moon is very reactive around dogs he doesn’t know but luckily, he loves Kato and Stan 💙 I took a cute pic of Moon and Stanley but realised after, I had a bit of plastic over the lens so excuse the blurriness.

Then to end the week, back with Chubs and Darcy. I usually walk these 2 every day so I think they’ve missed me this week, they were very excited when I arrived and giddy for the first 10 mins of the walk.

🐾💙 Loki & Ralph 💙🐾

Just the one walk today with these gorgeous boys. Nice slow stroll through the woods in the shade ft. a lovely cooling breeze. Lots of sniffing, water breaks and the boys were twinning in matching cooling bandanas 💙

It’s looking a little warm again tomorrow so we will see what the temperature gets too but as things stand, Friday will be much cooler so all walks will go ahead as normal 🙌🏽 roll on the rain next week 🤣

Here’s to all the dog walkers who have had to cancel walks this week.

To the ones living paycheck to paycheck, making the heartbreaking decision to put the welfare of the dogs first — even when rent is due, bills are piling up, and the food shop still needs paying for.

You are my heroes.

I feel incredibly lucky that my main outgoings are my vehicles, because I know for so many others, these weather extremes are hitting hard. And sadly, this is becoming our new normal — wet winters, unbearable spring and summer heat, one extreme after another.

Over the couple of years, so many new dog walkers have started their businesses, stepping into this industry at one of the toughest times imaginable.

The weather hasn’t just affected our income — it’s affected our mental health too. The stress, the uncertainty, the constant worry… it takes its toll.

And on top of all that, the cost of living has risen so dramatically.

Fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, insurance, food prices, rent, mortgages, utilities — everything has gone up, while many of us are earning less because of cancelled walks and unsafe temperatures.

It’s an exhausting balance trying to keep a business afloat while also trying to survive personally. For so many dog walkers, it feels like no matter how hard we work, we’re constantly trying to catch up.

But still, we keep going.

Why?

Because this is more than just a job to us. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a passion. It’s something we pour our whole hearts into every single day.

No matter the weather, no matter the setbacks, we continue showing up because we love these dogs like they’re our own.

So to every dog walker struggling quietly this week — I see you, I respect you, and I hope you’re proud of yourself for putting the dogs first, even when it costs you.

📣🐾 All walks have been cancelled today 🐾📣

Due to the temperature today, all walks have been cancelled and clients have been notified. I will reassess tomorrow morning, it’s looking a little cooler but things may change. I will keep everyone that is booked in updated.
Your dog’s safety will always come first ❣️

This weather really hits our industry hard.

Over the last few days, many of us in the dog industry have had to make the decision to cancel classes, workshops, walks, training sessions, daycare activities and events.

As small businesses, every cancellation has an impact. We lose income, spend hours rearranging schedules, and often absorb costs that can’t be recovered.

But dog welfare will always come first.

No class, walk, workshop or training session is worth putting a dog at risk. When temperatures soar, our responsibility is to keep dogs safe, even when it’s the harder business decision.

So today, I’d love to shine a light on the amazing small businesses who are also putting welfare first. If you know a dog trainer, walker, daycare, groomer, physio, hydrotherapist, pet sitter or any other pet professional who has been affected by the heat, tag them below and give them a follow.

Supporting small businesses costs nothing, but it can make a huge difference.

Let’s show some love to the people who spend every day caring for our dogs. ❤️🐾
