💙 Ella's story
In September 2019 me and my now husband, had travelled to Zakynthos (Zante) to get married, with our friends and family in tow
6 days after our wedding, we hired some quad bikes and came across a stray puppy in the olive groves, we contacted a local charity for some help and met up with them later that night, but we were unable to catch her
We returned the next day together to try again, but was unfortunately unsuccessful. The charity tried again but were unable to find her. We called this dog "Tree stump" as she blended in with the surroundings so well
9 days after our wedding, we hired a quad bike again for one last try to find Tree stump, but again, we were unable to find her. They're still trying to catch her to this day
Whilst we were driving around, we decided to go off road and came across 2 women, one of these women was Sue Deeth, the owner of Healing Paws Animal Rescue, along with her daughter
Sue invited us into the "shelter area" to meet the dogs and puppies she had rescued and was looking after whilst they awaited their new forever homes
In the corner, was a tiny black ball of fluff, she was around 6 1/2 weeks old at this point, she had been found by tourists at only a couple weeks old with 10 other puppies, they were 2 litters born from stray mum's
Unfortunately only 2 pups survived, 1 from each litter, as the others contracted hepatitis and nothing could have been done, despite all the charities and vets desperate attempts
This black ball of fluff was so tiny, but already so full of love. When we were looking for Tree stump, we were taught by a lady that "éla" was the Greek command word for "come", so naturally we named this little fluff ball "Ella"
We applied to adopt her that very night, and 2 months later (it took a little longer as she was so young) once she had all her jabs and passport she was brought over to the UK where we met the transport and brought her home
Ella is such a large part of our lives, we wouldn't be without her, and without Healing Paws we would never have had the opportunity to have her home with us where she so rightly belongs and deserves to be 💙
