Handsome Vizsla Elmer recently came to stay with us at Roundhills and certainly made the most of our facilities! 🐶

With our busy summer season now starting to draw to a close, Elmer has been enjoying plenty of time outdoors, exploring our paddocks, stretching those long legs and generally making himself at home. 🌿🐾

💙 🐾Keeping Our Golden Oldies Comfortable 🐾💙

Whilst temperatures reached 36°C outside today, our bespoke Twilight Years Suites remained a lovely, cool 20°C.

Designed with our senior guests in mind, these purpose-built suites are naturally cool, calm and comfortable, giving older dogs a peaceful place to relax whatever the weather.
Woody certainly isn't complaining!

🌳☀️NATURES NATURAL AIR CONDITIONING

One of the best decisions we've made over the last 12 years wasn't something we built – it was something we grew.

The large mature trees around our kennels were deliberately retained and nurtured to create a natural canopy across much of the site. They provide welcome shade throughout the day and act as nature's own air conditioning, helping to keep the environment cool and comfortable even during the hottest spells. This also allows our guests to enjoy sitting outside in their own outdoor areas whilst remaining lovely and cool beneath the shade of the tree canopy.

Our kennel facilities are also fully tiled, inspired by the Mediterranean approach to keeping buildings cool. The tiles help maintain a fresh and airy atmosphere, helping our guests stay comfortable during this extreme heat.

💙 🐾 WELCOME TO THE ROUNDHILLS FAMILY KODA 🐾 💙

Three days ago, this handsome 2-year-old Doberman arrived at Roundhills to begin a new chapter in his life.
Sometimes life takes unexpected turns, and due to a change in his owners' circumstances, they made the incredibly difficult and selfless decision to ask us to give Koda a forever home.
These decisions are never easy, and we know how much he is loved.

Since arriving, Koda has been settling in, enjoying the countryside, meeting new friends and learning the Roundhills routine with Nikki our Serbian Doberman

We know that everyone will wish him well on his journey at Roundhills

🐾 STAFF UPDATE – PROMOTION ANNOUNCEMENT 🐾

Many of our long-term followers will remember Nikki joining Team Roundhills as our Head of Security.

After a successful period of keeping a watchful eye on the grounds, monitoring visitors and conducting regular perimeter checks, we're pleased to announce that she has now expanded her role to include Works Supervisor! 👷‍♀️🐶

Over the last few days Nikki has been closely overseeing our paddock fencing repairs and renewal works. While we may have been carrying the tools, Nikki has ensured every post, rail and panel met her exact standards through regular inspections and quality control checks.

As you can see from the photo, she takes her responsibilities very seriously and has been on-site throughout the project making sure everything runs smoothly for our guests.

We're delighted to report that the fencing improvements have now been completed and Nikki has signed off the works... although she is already looking for her next project!

River, a beautiful Greyhound, enjoyed his first stay with us here at Roundhills recently

One thing that never ceases to amaze us though, even after all these years, is how often the dogs stop and quietly take in the views around them

Whether it's the peaceful countryside, the fresh air or simply feeling relaxed and safe, moments like this make you wonder if it's somehow part of their destiny to become a guest at Roundhills 🐾

As dogs enter their twilight years, comfort, peace and wellbeing become even more important — so we wanted to create something truly special.

Our new suites will offer:

South-facing rooms with open countryside views

A quiet, peaceful setting to encourage calm and relaxation

Ambient and natural lighting for a soothing environment

Warm, comfortable spaces tailored for older dogs

Beautiful tiled interiors for cleanliness, comfort and practicality

We wanted to bring you along on the journey and show the incredible work our local tradesmen are putting in
