This Saturday at Glenorchy Showgrounds, looking forward to seeing everyone and showing my little team.

The countdown is on! Tasmania’s premium breeders will be strutting their stuff at the 2026 Royal Hobart Show under the eye of judge Lyndy Bowden. Saturday 10 October at the Royal Hobart Showgrounds.

We are busily preparing for our first show for this half of the year with the Royal Hobart Show (Miniature Goat section) at Glenorchy this Saturday. I’m only taking a small team of 3 as we have only just weaned kids (what a noisy affair it’s been) and I would like the does to dry up and also gain their condition back, as raising a kid takes a lot out of the mums.

I clipped the 3 that I’m taking and I have to say they are looking great (with help from Nathan and Jack ) Although they are probably not liking the change in the weather, I don’t clip very short as our weather is always a bit colder then other places.

Our last 4 does to kid have entered blimp mode in baking their kid/s and I’ll be clipping their backends and udders so there is less mess to clean and keeps their hair relatively clean from the muck of kidding.

It will be a busy month as the kidding dates fall in around all the show dates.

I’m excited to see what is born.

We are very excited to introduce a new member of our herd

Riverstone Cherry Bomb

We travelled to Melbourne via The Spirit of Tasmania, Nathan, Jack and I had a great time away.

We picked Cherry up on Saturday afternoon and then travelled back to board to the spirit to come home, I’m sure Cherry was excited to get in to the paddock after being on the boat overnight.

She is a wonderful doe and has the most amazing temperament, I’m looking forward to showing her.

Thank you Seleena and Stewart from Riverstone Miniature Goats for Cherry, we think she is going to be a great addition to our herd and look forward to seeing what she produces in the future.

The kids are growing nicely and we will begin weaning very soon, the countdown is on for show season to begin on the 10th of October for the Royal Hobart Show.
We clipped our goats and I must say I don’t think they liked it very much though I think the warmer weather may win them over a bit, I will be tidying up the clips this week.

Also our next batch of kiddings with Pickle, Bree, Bekki and Bindi, when we did ultrasounds we looked to have multiples in 3 of the does, looking forward to seeing what we get, kids will be available once weaned.

Then our kidding season will be over until next year.

We added a scratching post to our big buck pen and suffice to say they love it, I think I’ll be purchasing more for the other paddocks, more fencing will be done so we can have more space to move the goats around. I’m looking forward to what is coming for Jahanda and the steps we are taking to have a better system for our goats.

Well I’m a few days behind in posting, but we have now finished kidding until the next group are due in October so the countdown will begin with that soon.

On the 25th Paisley started kidding, I knew she was having twins as we scanned our does. But the surprise for us was whether they were going to be twin does, bucks or one of each, I was just excited like I always am to see new life come into the world.

Paisley being a first timer i thought her labour would have lasted longer but she was calm and got down to it, she silently and unassisted gave birth to two beautiful doelings, they are tiny little things but very cute. 🥰 She is looking after them well which is amazing.

Their colours are gorgeous and my goodness they are energetic little ones.

We are excited to watch these two doelings grow out, they add new genetics to our herd.

Our kidding season is nearly over for the moment, we are only waiting on Paisley to kid now, eagerly awaiting her kids 🤩

On the 31st of July Dixie had a chunky boy who has the most beautiful coat. She is a great mum and had him unassisted.

Then on the 6th of August Kaia had twin boys unfortunately one was born sleeping and I had to go in and pull the other one out, even with all my sterilisation and precautions she has had to be treated for an infection but is doing ok now, I’m supplementing the little boy with some milk as Kaia is not producing enough, she is still being a great first time mother and is feeding him what she does have and he is growing nicely.

Both the boys have been sold and once weaned will be off to their new home, where I know they will be adored.

All the kids are now nibbling hay, chaff, pellets and copying what their mums are doing. They have especially been loving the nice weather we have been having.

Our other does will kid from October/November, so if you’d like to welcome some cuteness into your family please message me.

We have two does available they will be 1 this week, would be ideal for pets or breeding when they are the right age.
They will come for food but are quite standoffish.
We are reducing our numbers a little as we are retaining doelings from this years kidding.
