Well I’m a few days behind in posting, but we have now finished kidding until the next group are due in October so the countdown will begin with that soon.

On the 25th Paisley started kidding, I knew she was having twins as we scanned our does. But the surprise for us was whether they were going to be twin does, bucks or one of each, I was just excited like I always am to see new life come into the world.

Paisley being a first timer i thought her labour would have lasted longer but she was calm and got down to it, she silently and unassisted gave birth to two beautiful doelings, they are tiny little things but very cute. 🥰 She is looking after them well which is amazing.

Their colours are gorgeous and my goodness they are energetic little ones.

We are excited to watch these two doelings grow out, they add new genetics to our herd.

Our kidding season is nearly over for the moment, we are only waiting on Paisley to kid now, eagerly awaiting her kids 🤩

On the 31st of July Dixie had a chunky boy who has the most beautiful coat. She is a great mum and had him unassisted.

Then on the 6th of August Kaia had twin boys unfortunately one was born sleeping and I had to go in and pull the other one out, even with all my sterilisation and precautions she has had to be treated for an infection but is doing ok now, I’m supplementing the little boy with some milk as Kaia is not producing enough, she is still being a great first time mother and is feeding him what she does have and he is growing nicely.

Both the boys have been sold and once weaned will be off to their new home, where I know they will be adored.

All the kids are now nibbling hay, chaff, pellets and copying what their mums are doing. They have especially been loving the nice weather we have been having.

Our other does will kid from October/November, so if you’d like to welcome some cuteness into your family please message me.

Hi everyone

We have two does available they will be 1 this week, would be ideal for pets or breeding when they are the right age.
They will come for food but are quite standoffish.
We are reducing our numbers a little as we are retaining doelings from this years kidding.

Jahanda Stormy has her winter fluff at the moment, so looks scruffy, she is black with minimal white DOB 22/08/2025

Jahanda Dreamer has a longer coat, she is black and tan (lighter tan throughout) DOB 18/08/2025

Friday the 24th of July saw us down in the kidding shed witnessing Meadow one of our new does from Riverstone Miniature Goats give birth to a beautiful little doeling, she has the biggest most beautiful ears, they are one of the first things we notice when going into the paddock 😂

Meadow was a maiden doe and she did fantastic for her first kidding, Jack helped me spray the umbilical cord and took photos of the doeling and Nathan for helping with the lights, and always supporting me.

Meadow is being a great mum which is fantastic.

I can’t wait to watch Misty River grow, she will be retained in our herd, I’m grateful for these new genetics for our herd.

On the 18th of July late in the afternoon I checked the does that were close to kidding, nothing was happening and everyone was chewing their cud and eating hay, just after 7.30pm I went to check them again as I was walking down I heard the tiniest little “maa” I shone the torch around and down in the paddock was Maple she had not long given birth to a beautiful little doeling completely unassisted, we took them both to the kidding sheds and I helped her doeling have first feed of colostrum.

Maple is an amazing mum and we will definitely be retaining her doeling.

Her name Jahanda Miss Bling is a special one, my mum suggested to name her Bling after my beautiful sister who passed away two days later, Bling was my sister’s nickname.

We are still on kid watch, our does have decided to hold them hostages at this time, much to my dismay 😫

But udders are filling and some of our does resemble small planets and look at me with disdain when I try to feel their ligaments 🤣🤣🤣 and simply walk away, I’m sure they love me really 😂🤣

I’m sure they will kid when it’s stormy or freezing outside, we can only hope for daylight kidding’s like last year.

I’m very excited to see what they produce.

Today we gave our does a trim around their backends, we have found by doing this they stay cleaner with all the mess of kidding, no more hard clumps of hair that we have to trim.
We are due to start our kidding season in the next week, we are very excited.

We also did some ultrasounds on the does that will be due later in the year two were confirmed bred and the other two nothing as yet but I knew that would be the case as they were bred later, so I’ll rescan all 4 in a couple of weeks to see if I can get a clearer picture. I also did ultrasounds on a few that are due soon so I could show Dakoda and Tyson (while they are visiting) it was pretty exciting because we saw lots of movements and even seen heartbeats flickering.

We have put the herd back to the original goat paddocks,

Snickers was not happy to leave his does and was also probably not happy to go in with Zazu but they are getting along now that Zazu has claimed the Herd sire ranking.

The count down is on for our kidding season to start, so please if you are interested in welcoming a Jahanda goat into your family let me know.

We will also have does hopefully kidding in October.

Introduction of Property Identification Code (PIC) application and renewal Fees – FREE PIC applications until 1 July

Owners and operators of premises holding cattle, sheep, goats or pigs are legally required to have a Property Identification Code (PIC) under the Biosecurity (Livestock Traceability) Regulations 2024.

PICs are the cornerstone of our traceability system. They help to protect you, your animals, the community and industry if there is an animal disease outbreak, food safety or chemical residue issue.

From 1 July 2026, a PIC application fee will be $78.40 and a three-year renewal fee will be $39.20.

Revenue from the fees will be invested back into Biosecurity Tasmania programs for the benefit of Tasmanians and our agricultural industry.
