Since 1986, Dacre House Veterinary Clinic has been providing high quality, reasonably priced veterinary care for pets and their owners in Southborough and the surrounding area. Initially the clinic only required a single veterinary surgeon, a receptionist and an animal nurse. Today, the team has expanded to meet the needs of an ever-growing clientele and now consists of six vets and twelve support staff.

We don’t often see rodents, particularly undergoing surgery, so this was a nice change! Meet Ancho, a very friendly fancy rat who had a rather large mass removed from his chest. He was a star patient and enjoyed a cuddle on our Nurse Sìne’s shoulder.

Rats are incredible creatures, not to everyone's liking, but we think they are wonderful! 🐭💕

Are you planning to go on holiday this year with your pet?

If so, please allow yourself plenty of time to get everything in order.. in some cases, you may need a couple of months.

To take your pet to Europe you will need:
✅️ An up-to-date rabies vaccine, given more than 21 days before the date of travel
✅️ An Animal Health Certificate signed by an OV (Official Veterinarian), issued more than 21 days after the rabies vaccine, but within 10 days of travel
✅️ In most cases, a tape wormer must be administered by a Vet in Europe, before re-entering the UK

Outside of Europe, requirements get far more complex, often requiring an Export Health Certificate to travel.

“Auntie” had a short stay with us in February when she had a high temperature and wasn’t eating. After a few days of intravenous fluids and medication, she was thankfully beginning to feel much more herself! 💕
