🐢💚 Meet Bubbles! 💚🐢

Bubbles the tortoise came to see us recently after her owners noticed that she wasn’t eating as well as usual. She had also recently laid an egg, so we wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything else going on.

A quick X-ray showed that Bubbles still had some eggs inside her! 🥚🥚

She was given some medication for her owners to continue at home, to help encourage her to lay the remaining eggs safely. We’re hoping she’ll soon be back to her usual self and enjoying her food again! 🌿🐢

We absolutely love seeing all creatures great and small at St Clement Vets — not just cats and dogs! 🐶🐱💚

🦷✨ Ta**us’s Dental Update! ✨🦷

Ta**us recently had a dental procedure with us to remove some poorly damaged teeth, and we’re very happy to say that on Saturday he was signed off and is healing really well! ❤️

And as you can see from his twirl… he is absolutely thrilled! 😂🐶

Dental health is just as important for our pets as it is for us, and dental disease can sometimes be difficult to spot at home.

💛 Goodbye Dani! 💛

Today we’re saying a very fond farewell to our wonderful receptionist, Dani. 🥹

Dani has been such a valued part of the St Clement Vets team, and we’re going to miss her more than we can say! From welcoming our clients and their pets with a smile, to keeping us all organised behind the scenes, she has brought so much warmth, kindness and personality to the practice. 🐾

It’s never easy saying goodbye to a member of our team, but we’re so grateful for everything Dani has done and the memories she’s made with us. We wish her all the very best for her next adventure — although we’re hoping she won’t be a stranger! 💛

And whilst we say goodbye to Dani, we’re excited to welcome Tammy, who will be joining us in Truro next week. We can’t wait for you all to meet her and give her a big St Clement Vets welcome! 🐶🐱

⚠️ Trigger warning - scenes of surgery ⚠️

Bracken - 0

BBQs in the summer are always super but the temptation of a yummy kebab stick got Bracken into a bit of a pickle last week!

Luckily she was seen immediately at our Truro branch and admitted straight away for an explorative laparotomy where the stick was found straight away by our vet Chris. After some pain relief and lots of cuddles Bracken was sent home that afternoon to carry on recovering ❤️‍🩹

☀️🐾 **A gentle reminder about dogs and the summer heat** 🐾☀️

Our Head Nurse Fay recently enjoyed a day out with her family at a local garden and was surprised to see how many dogs were spending prolonged periods in direct sunshine.

This isn't about judging anyone — we know how easy it is to get caught up enjoying a day out. ❤️

Here in Cornwall, we understand that lots of people visit on holiday with their dogs. They’re part of the family, and sometimes they need to come along. But it's important to **choose activities sensibly for the weather** — dog-friendly doesn't always mean suitable in hot conditions.

🐶 **Meet Peggy!** This photo was taken the other morning when Fay took Peggy out for an early 7am walk and swim, getting home before the temperatures really started to rise. 💦

🌳 Choose shaded activities
💧 Take plenty of water
☀️ Avoid prolonged time in direct sun
🐾 Consider whether your dog really needs to come along
🌡️ If you're hot, chances are your dog is too!

Watch out for excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, confusion or collapse — these can be signs of **heatstroke and require urgent veterinary attention.**

We want everyone to enjoy Cornwall with their dogs this summer — **just plan ahead, stay cool and put their needs first.** 💚🐾
