CVETS Out of hours emergency small animal vet practice providing cover for local practices & holidaymakers

All veterinary practices are obliged to provide an out of hours emergency service for their patients. Until relatively recently, this would be provided by the vets in the practice. Unfortunately it didn't involve shift work: the vet who was working during the day would then be on call that night but would also be back at work the next day. Busy nights could mean little or no sleep so not surprisin

gly you didn't function very well the following day. This might have been acceptable 20 or 30 years ago but today's demanding medical and surgical standards require sharper body and brain function. The ideal would be for each practice to employ dedicated out-of- hours staff but this is prohibitively expensive for all but very large multivet practices. In the past few years we have seen the emergence of dedicated out of hours veterinary clinics which provide emergency cover for a group of participating practices. Cornwall Veterinary Emergency Treatment Services (CVETS) is an organisation dedicated to the provision of out of hours emergency care for veterinary practices. We have an extremely well equipped practice and employ staff who have a particular interest in emergency medicine and surgery. CVETS liases closely with your user practices and aims to reunite pet and practice as soon as possible if there is a need to be seen. Our standard fees to be seen for patients of subscriber practices are
£160.00 before 11pm
£200.00 after 11pm
These prices include our consultation fee and VAT but not the cost of any treatment or tests required.

Staff working at CVETS tonight have kindly come in early to ensure the practice is staffed before the red weather warning comes into effect.
We are hoping that we will not lose our phonelines and have tried to put a back up system in place but if you are unable to get through to us please keep trying.
We will always endeavour to give you advice on the phone if appropriate as we don’t want anybody putting themselves at risk tonight.
