I very rarely share dogs looking for homes on my FB page, but last month I shared this one for Rufus. There was just something about him. I am so happy that one of my lovely clients has taken him on after the loss of her wonderful dog Monty. I am also so privileged to have been supporting them both in these first weeks with some issues that are totally trainable. Pulling hard, barking and lunging and lack of environmental exposure, we are taking this gently, building the relationship. This boy reminds me so much of my boy Oak, there is something super special about him. Today he had his first searches for a kong ball, and right from the start, whenever he came back we did not help him, he needs to build that independence and commitment to search. He did 2 searches of over 1 minute. He is a super boy 🥰

Wow! What a fantastic day! The Top Gun Challenge really showed how amazing these teams were. Big areas to clear, unknown number of hides and absolutely no one to support or confirm finds. Purely the handlers and dogs working as a team, trusting their dogs and clearing huge areas.

What a super new venue Cornwall at War Museum was on Thursday. Such a big venue with so many options it allowed for different areas to be set up so handlers not working could all spectate - you learn so much from spectating. Super group of dogs and handlers. Can’t wait to come back mid November. I will be running workshops on Monday 16th November when they will be closed to the public for the winter. If anyone wants a specific workshop let me know. Watch this space for booking . . .

I couldn’t be more proud of this certificate that I received this week.
It was a journey, and I learnt so much. Michelle at K9 Prosearch for not only the narcotic training for Oak, but as a fully active operational handler, teaching me the difference between ‘sport’ detection and the complexities of real life operational detection. A huge difference!
Jenny at Deliverance Dogs who was a huge help in building Oak’s confidence and resilience after his injury. I cannot thank her enough for the work she did

Fantastic day at East Somerset Railway yesterday. As usual, very individual training for each teams needs, from building independence, area clearance, understanding some very interesting odour movement, commitment to odour at a distance from handler, high hides to name a few.
