Our next Winter Meeting will be a Farm Walk with a talk about Beef Fertility from Tonia Simms MRCVS, an RCVS Advanced Practitioner.

This will be on Thursday 26th November 2026 from 2-4pm with tea, coffee and cake!

We will start with a walk around Whitfield House Farm (NN13 5TQ) and a chat from James about his system.

This will be followed by a talk on the key factors that influence fertility in beef cows—and how good management can help get more cows back in calf. There’ll be a focus on practical ways to support reproductive performance in the suckler herd.

If you would like to attend this meeting, please let Debbie know in the office on 01327 350239 or email us on [email protected]

The hardest part of farming isn’t always the work, it can be the conversations.

Who does what. Where the money goes. The change one person wants and another won’t hear of. Who takes over. It’s so common for the same argument to go round for years, and there are practical ways to get it moving.

GRIP is a one-day workshop for farming families with Amy Hughes of EmpowerAg, and it’s coming to Long Buckby Rugby Club on Wednesday 11 November. Small groups, plain English, and you leave with your first steps written down.

Bring a friend or a neighbour along. Book at tickets.empowerag.co.uk/events/empowerag

Today is World Mental Health Day.

We know how tricky farming is as an industry, and this year has been no different. Between the pressures of the drought and worries over Bluetongue, farming continues to be tough. But you don't have to do it alone. Keep talking. Keep listening. Keep taking breaks.

There are several sources of professional support available, a reminder of which are below:

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our TB Meeting on Monday.

We had a very insightful talk from Sarah about taking ownership of TB on your farm. Lindsay spoke to us about the success of her work on the badger vaccination programme in East Sussex. If you would like to register your interest in badger vaccination, the link is here: https://bvff.co.uk/

If you have any questions or you’d like to sign up for a FREE TB advice visit from one of our vets, please give us a call.
