Meet the lovely Disco 🐶💙
Disco came to see us after his owner noticed sudden redness in his right eye, along with squinting (blepharospasm), a clear sign that his eye was painful.
After a thorough examination with our vet, Claire, Disco was diagnosed with a small but deep corneal ulcer. Although these ulcers can sometimes be managed with frequent eye drops, Disco understandably wasn’t a fan of his medication! 🫣
To give him the best chance of a comfortable recovery, we opted for surgery. Disco had a two layer graft, where a small piece of healthy conjunctiva was carefully moved to cover the ulcer. This helps bring a healthy blood supply to the damaged area, encouraging healing and protecting the eye.
We’re pleased to say Disco recovered well. ❤️
If you ever notice redness, squinting, excessive watering, or your pet keeping an eye closed, don’t ignore it, eye problems can worsen quickly and are often very painful. Early treatment can make all the difference. 👁️✨
