The lovely Sasha, who was in with us last week for surgery to treat an aural haematoma (a blood filled swelling on the ear caused by excessive itching or shaking of the ears). After her op Sasha enjoyed a little food, but couldn't get that bit on the end of her nose, bless her!

Maya had to spend the day with us today after she was bitten by an Adder. Adders are the UK's only venomous snake 🐍. We have plenty of them in Devon, with Dartmoor and the North Devon coast being particular hotspots. Adders are naturally shy and non-agressive and more likely to slither away than bite, unless they feel threatened. The signs of an adder bite in dogs include pain, rapid swelling and bruising near the bite site. In severe cases venom may cause breathing difficulties, heart abnormalties, and blood clotting issues. In rare cases this can be fatal. If your dog is bitten, carry them to the car and seek veterinary assistance immediately. Thankfully Maya has responded well to treatment and is on the mend.
