✨ Laparoscopic Spays✨

Laparoscopic (keyhole) spays are a minimally invasive alternative to traditional midline spays, using small incisions and specialised equipment. Benefits include reduced post-operative discomfort, smaller wounds, and a faster recovery for your dog.

Watch the video below to learn more about laparoscopic spays and the advantages they can offer.

If you’d like to find out whether a laparoscopic spay is suitable for your dog, please get in touch with our team.

🎉 It’s our 1st Birthday! 🎉

What a year it’s been for Estuary Vets! Over the past 12 months, we’ve had the privilege of caring for so many wonderful pets and getting to know their amazing owners.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our clients for your trust, support, and kindness since we opened our doors. And of course, a massive thank you to our incredible team whose hard work, compassion, and dedication make Estuary Vets what it is every single day.

We’re so proud of what we’ve built together in just one year, and we can’t wait to see what the future brings.

Thank you for being part of our journey! 🐾

🐱👂 Ear mites are very common in kittens and young cats. These tiny parasites live in the ears and can cause intense itching, head shaking, scratching, and dark “coffee ground” debris inside the ears.

Signs to watch for:
🔸 Frequent scratching at the ears
🔸 Head shaking or tilting
🔸 Dark brown or black ear discharge
🔸 Red, irritated ears
🔸 Sensitivity when touching the ears

We’re excited to welcome the newest member of our team, Ann, who has joined us as our new receptionist!

Ann joins us after working for 3 years as a receptionist at another vet practice in Exeter.

She loves nothing more than spending time with the family, especially her grandson, singing with a gospel choir and being surrounded in nature.

A really good outcome and two new friends made ...

We can share this real story to collaboration, innovation and success with you all. Importantly a good outcome for all involved and were able to celebrate it yesterday when Eric and Max met at the practice, whilst collecting their Flea, Tick and Wormer treatments as part of our Pet Health Plan …

A few months ago we asked for a potential poo 💩donor. The response was amazing. Well… meet Eric, who passed the comprehensive screening testing with flying colours, with his owner Karen.

Similarly, meet Max, who thanks to regular ‘donations’ from Eric, has been turned from a chronic Inflammatory Bowel Disease sufferer reliant on long term medication, into a dog enjoying a healthy gut and feeling good about life without the need for drugs to do so, with his owner Keith.

Faecal microbiota transplants take care and planning for, but can change lives for the better. To the best of our knowledge, Estuary Vets are proud to be amongst the first general practices in the country offering this service for our patients, an example of our commitment to evidence-led, welfare-friendly practice.

To complete an accomplished CV, Eric is a Pets As Therapy dog being a regular visitor to the RD&E to boost the morale of patients, Eric clearly does it all for society, and we couldn’t be more proud to be looking after both him and his new friend Max.

Thanks to both owners for allowing us to share Eric and Max’s story. With them, in the sun 😎 are Vet Nurse Rachel and Vet Rob.

To register or for more information about our services please visit www.estuary.vet or call us on 01395 205050. Better still come and and see us.

Important information! 🧳 🌍

A new EU pet travel rule has very recently been announced at short notice which may be of relevance to many of our clients.

Starting this Wednesday, owners of pet who have previously travelled to an EU country and have had an EU pet passport issued while there will only be able to continue to use this document if they can PROOVE RESIDENCY for the country in question. This was a loophole in the original legislation which proved convenient for many frequent travellers but which the government and EU have now decided needs closing.

Estuary Vets are happy to provide advice to any affected pet owners. We are able to offer AHCs in place of any pet passports, including 2 free AHCS per year for any member of our Explorer Health Plan.”

Guess what?!

Surgical recoveries are about to get a whole lot quicker. A big commitment which Estuary has made from the outset is about to begin….

Keyhole (aka laparoscopic) surgery is coming to Estuary Vets! Imagine, wounds under 1cm, let your pet jump into the car on collection, back to normal walks in 2 days and off-lead exercise within 1 week. We believe this represents a huge boost for patient welfare and cannot wait to get going. Even better, with a team boasting over 30 years of combined experience in this procedure, your beloved pet couldn’t be in safer hands.

We are open for bookings for both registered and visiting patients for the following:

-Bitch spays
-Dog castrates with retained/undescended testicles (aka cryptorchids).
-Minimally invasive biopsy surgery.
-Preventative gastric surgery for patients at risk of torsion/GDV.
-Other exploratory abdominal surgery.

Routine pricing can already be found on our website, with pre-operative neutering checks to discuss surgery and check patient health are free.
