Meet the gorgeous Milo, who had an unfortunate accident and fell out of a tree, breaking 3 of the bones in his paw.

The team at Ocean Vets performed surgery this week to repair the broken bones, using pins that sit inside the bones.

Cats have very mobile paws and an intricate network of tendons to allow them to move, so the repair needed to avoid impinging on these tendons, hence using this type of pinning.

Milo has been an incredibly good patient and has been very brave, and we wish him a speedy recovery 🥰

🎒 Back to school, back to routine… but how is your pet coping?

After weeks of having the family around, the first school day can mean a much quieter house for your dog or cat.

Some pets take the change in their stride. Others may struggle with longer periods alone, changes to feeding or walking times, or simply having less company.

A few simple steps can help:
🐾 Gradually return to your term-time routine
🐾 Practice short periods apart
🐾 Keep meals, walks and playtime predictable
🐾 Give your pet a comfortable safe space
🐾 Offer suitable enrichment
🐾 Watch for signs of stress or separation-related behaviour

If your pet is suddenly barking, pacing, hiding, toileting indoors, becoming destructive or behaving differently, don't just put it down to them being 'naughty'. There may be an underlying reason.

💚 Guinea Pig fans, this one's for you!

Our vet Kirsten is a huge guinea pig lover and recently attended Piggy Fest, the UK's first-ever Guinea Pig Festival! 🎉

As well as caring for her own piggies, she's been looking after Jeremy & Fiona's guinea pigs, Popcorn and Tarquin. They've been thoroughly spoiled with special festival treats and home-grown veggies from Kirsten's garden! 🥕🌿

This check can be especially helpful if your cat:
• Is slowing down slightly

We’re delighted to share that our dog show at the Big Alderholt Fete raised £98.00 for the Alderholt Defibrillator Fund 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, came along to support, and helped us raise money for such an important local cause – we couldn’t have done it without you! 💙🧡

We loved seeing all your wonderful dogs and being part of such a fantastic community event. 🐶✨

We had such an amazing day yesterday at the Alderholt Big Fete dog show. It was lovely to meet you all and especially your amazing dogs. We also received a huge amount of positivity to our proposed development of the surgery so we really appreciate that and great to know.
