Just a reminder especially for tomorrow, no dog ever died from missing a walk! This temperature this early in the year before the dogs have acclimatised is especially dangerous. I won’t be taking my own dogs out in it I certainly won’t train in it. Water down at all times, damp towels to lie on or draped over cages. Frozen bottles of water in cages or beds, and fans positioned safely are all ways I keep my own dogs cool.

Buddy is another dog that would like politely to be left alone. Again the root cause of his issues was others not reading his early signs ( unless a dog makes it abundantly clear they want to engage - loose wiggly body and forward movement) we should be recalling our dogs. Dogs understand this we have just made them entitled to greet whatever they like through poor understanding of socialisation. He can now be off lead and will not initiate an interaction with other dogs and will actively avoid by placing himself behind us where possible. His transformation is incredible!!

Blue and Marley helping out Roddy. Before starting Roddy was almost unmanageable on the lead. Reactive to just about everything and occasionally even aggressive. The root cause of this, humans forcing strange dogs to interact to “socialise”. Roddy simply doesn’t want to socialise with strange dogs (I’m sure many of us can relate) the humans and strange dogs didn’t pick up on the subtle/polite cues he offered so he learnt to make it abundantly clear. He needed us to understand our role not the other way around. With advocating for his boundaries he’d rather chew his ball and let me handle the strangers. As you can see he’s not antisocial he just likes his own friends and isn’t in the market for more.

Nala had no recall, couldn’t walk on a lead let alone off a lead a couple of months ago. She’s also only a baby but look at her go!
