Ronnie had got her coat in a rather painful pickle….she was pelted over much of her body.
This means that I had to shave off her entire coat to help her feel comfortable again.
What is a pelt? A pelted coat means that lots of individual mats have spread and are joined together to create what must feel like a straight jacket stitched to the skin.
This can often mean that the skin underneath is sore where it’s been pulled into the pelted fur. You can see some inflamed areas of skin on Ronnie’s side after her clip, these have been treated with a soothing skin gel for cats and her owner will be keeping an eye out to make sure it doesn’t get worse. Most often merely being once again open to fresh air is enough to help healing take place.
Ronnie is now booked in for a follow up groom in a few months and regular 8 weekly visits thereafter to keep her coat in good shape as it grows back.
She was a very sweet girl and her owner said how much happier she’s been at home since.

I can’t believe I’m saying this tonight but I’ve just learned thst this incredibly brave, larger than life cat Mr Felix has passed over the rainbow bridge this evening after falling ill suddenly last week.
I don’t have all the details at the moment, all I know is that we thought he’d turned a corner and was looking so much better at the weekend, now he’s gone and we will all be the poorer for it.
He had so much hardship in his early life but you’d never have known it. He lived life to the full, was so full of joy and had such a strong character, loved his doggy friend Bane who I know will be lost without him too.
This has been such a shock, my heart goes out to his family. I too will miss him so very much.

My Harper Lee had a sudden and acute bout of pancreatitis recently and we wanted to say a really big thank you to the lovely, caring vets, nurses and all the front of house and behind the scenes staff at Medivet Thirsk for their support snd skills in getting her better.
Harper is back to her most mischievous, playful and sunny self now thanks to their efforts.
We’re all incredibly grateful 🧡🐾

After breaking my rib and being stuck at home for the last two and a half weeks I finally feel good enough to ease back in gently. Cat grooming is incredibly physical and I don’t want to overdo it but I do feel up to beginning with a few easy grooms.
Oscar was one of my very first clients when I started my business and he’s truly the most gentle and loving cat I’ve ever met.
He just wants to snuggle, head boop and purrs non-stop!
He can actually sometimes be a bit tricky to do simply because he’s SO affectionate he can’t keep still! Today it’s as if he knew I needed him to sit quietly and he offered extra healing vibes with huge purrs throughout! Love you Oscar ! 🐈‍⬛🐾🧡

Feeling much better! As long as I start back gently I’m confident I’ll be back to a full diary’s worth of grooming in a couple of weeks 🎉!

Yep…..I actually thought I’d be able to get back grooming in a few days 🙄. I mean, 😢 knew really that it wouldn’t happen but you know, sometimes you think that just by sheer will you can make it happen?
Yeah, that was me living in fantasy land!
Back to the real world now, waiting to heal 🫣😔.
