Behind the scenes in our surgical suite with Franco. 🩺

Today has been a busy but incredibly rewarding day in theater. From routine procedures to more complex operations, Franco and our dedicated nursing team have been working hard to ensure the highest standard of care for every patient.

All of today’s surgical patients have recovered beautifully and are resting comfortably in our wards. They are now awake and receiving plenty of post-op care, and looking forward to being reunited with their lovely families later today. 🥰

Please join us in welcoming Lottie to the Heronden Vets team! 💜

Lottie is our new Student Veterinary Nurse and has been working in practice for two months. Before joining us, Lottie worked in marketing and also spent a few years in Australia working on several farms with their cattle and rare-breed sheep! 🐑🐄

She’s particularly excited to get involved in surgery and diagnostic imaging as she continues her training.

One of her proudest career highlights so far was her first lambing season in rural Queensland, and raising calves and lambs until they were back to full health! Watching them happily rejoin their herds was so rewarding. 🐑❤️

At Heronden, Lottie loves being part of the team, meeting all our wonderful patients and their owners, and helping hospitalised pets feel comfortable and loved while they recover. 🥰

At home, Lottie has a lovely 5-year-old Labrador called Moana (swipe to see her!), and although she loves all animals, dogs have a special place in her heart!

Her top tip for pet owners? Always research your pet and their breed before bringing them home, so you can give them the very best life! ❤️

We’re so excited to have Lottie as part of the Heronden family and can’t wait to see her grow and develop throughout her veterinary nursing journey! 🩺

We’re pleased to offer dedicated cardiac screening and assessment at Heronden, helping support the heart health of your pets.

Our cardiology service includes:

- Breed-specific cardiac screening for conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and mitral valve disease.
- Baseline cardiac measurements to help inform clinical decision-making and support ongoing care.
- Cardiac referrals for more complex cases and patients presenting with clinical signs of heart disease.
- Collaborative care working alongside your usual veterinary practice to help provide the most appropriate care for your pet.
- For veterinary professionals: We welcome cardiac referrals from other practices. Simply complete our online referral form to get started!

Our fees:
• Routine cardiac screening (patients with no clinical signs of heart disease, but heart murmur present) : £375
• Full cardiac assessment for patients with clinical signs of heart disease: £650

Cardiology appointments are available with Dr Young, our cardiology certificate holder, at Heronden on Fridays.

Meet this gorgeous Wheaten Terrier, who came in for surgery to remove a rather big lump from his face. He was understandably nervous when he arrived, but despite his worries, he was an absolute superstar throughout his whole day with us. ❤️

From his pre-op checks, through his anaesthetic and surgery, to waking up and heading home, he was brave every step of the way. ❤️

Before his procedure, we performed pre-operative blood tests. These are an important part of preparing for an anaesthetic, helping us assess your pet’s overall health and check that their organs are functioning as expected before surgery. They can also identify issues that may not be obvious from an external examination, helping us make the safest possible anaesthetic plan for each individual patient.

Meet this absolutely gorgeous Cavalier King Charles Spaniel!

Not only is she one of the most beautiful girls we’ve had the pleasure of meeting, but her personality is just as adorable!

She came to see us for a dental procedure, and we’re so pleased to have helped get her teeth and gums feeling healthier. 🦷❤️

Dental treatment isn’t just about keeping those pearly whites looking their best - good oral health is an important part of your pet’s overall health and wellbeing. Dental disease can be painful and, if left untreated, can lead to more serious problems inside the body.

She’s now on her way to a happier, healthier smile - and we know she’ll be feeling so much better for it!

After her procedure, she was feeling a little overwhelmed, so our lovely nurses made sure she had a secure, cosy bed to curl up in, lots of warm blankets to keep her snug, and of course, plenty of cuddles to help her feel safe and settled. In no time she was even enjoying a post-op meal with us☺️

Tailoring our care for the needs of each individual animal is what we take pride in doing.❤️
