With Pebbles already settled into her new home at Colchester Zoo, Fred is getting ready for his big move to Banham Zoo. But first, he needs to learn a few important skills!

Kim puts Fred through his paces, from weighing and health checks to getting him comfortable in his travel crate. We also find out why the cubs need to leave their mum Betty, and how their moves could help protect this endangered species for future generations.

Tommy isn’t himself. Usually full of character, our much-loved tapir is spending hours lying down, and his keepers are worried. It’s time to call in vet Kevin.

Suspected colic means pain relief, fluids and close monitoring. But when Tommy still seems unwell the following morning, the team need to investigate further. Getting a blood sample from a tapir, however, is easier said than done…

Filmed on International Oryx Day, this is a very personal look at why scimitar-horned oryx mean so much to keeper Sarah.

Sarah first learned about oryx when she was just six years old, when the species was extinct in the wild. They became her first real introduction to conservation, and helped inspire her desire to work with animals and protect threatened species.

Today, Sarah cares for Manor Wildlife Park’s two scimitar-horned oryx boys. Their story is also an extraordinary example of what conservation can achieve. After disappearing from the wild, years of breeding and conservation work by zoos, wildlife parks and others have helped establish new populations.

Sarah explains why these animals have stayed with her since childhood, and why the work being done to protect rare species around the world still matters so much.

Whimbrel the black howler monkey has been a very successful dad. In fact, perhaps a little too successful…

With the group already full of youngsters, the vet team needs to temporarily stop him breeding. That means sedating one of the zoo’s strongest primates, giving him a contraceptive implant and taking the chance to give him a full health check while he’s asleep.

But at 8.5kg of solid muscle, Whimbrel isn’t the easiest patient to handle.

Terima the tiger has reopened a wound by licking out her stitches. Now zoo vet Kevin needs to check whether it is healing on its own or if she must undergo another procedure.

But Terima is suspicious of new people and seems to particularly dislikes men! As Kevin moves in for a closer look, the team must keep this grumpy tiger calm while deciding the safest course of treatment.

It’s a big day for Ahsoka, Manor Wildlife Park’s beautiful Grant’s zebra. After spending three weeks settling in beside Troy, the zoo’s older male Damara zebra, keepers are opening the gate to the main African paddock for the first time.

The paddock is already home to quite a welcoming committee: Jambo and the other male rhinos, Bobo the ostrich and a group of oryx. Head Keeper Kim hopes Troy will lead Ahsoka into her new home, but the cautious newcomer has other ideas. While everyone waits, we get a very close introduction to Zuberi the rhino.

Will Ahsoka finally take the plunge, explore the paddock and meet her enormous new neighbours?

We thought Kazak was just feeling the heat. But when the weather cooled down and he still wouldn’t close his mouth, we called in the vet.

He found a fractured tooth that needs to come out. Getting a camel ready for dental work takes some doing, even with a patient as lovely as Kazak!

Join Anna Ryder Richardson, vet Kevin and the keepers at Manor Wildlife Park as they tackle the stubborn tooth, then turn their attention to a growing lump. There’s an abscess to drain, and everyone’s told to brace themselves...

It's not just butterflies that love this plant - zoo animals do too... Watch as a spot of gardening quickly turns into a feeding frenzy!

Kim cuts back some overgrown butterfly bush, or buddleia, and takes it around the zoo for the animals to enjoy. The sheep and pygmy goats waste no time getting stuck in, before Pascal and Parsnip the pigs, Gordon the headbutting goat and dozens of hungry wallabies get their share.

Along the way, Kim explains why fresh branches make such valuable enrichment, encouraging the animals to forage and feed as they would naturally.
