🐾 World Animal Road Accident Awareness Day 🐾

Today is World Animal Road Accident Awareness Day, a chance to remember the thousands of animals affected by road traffic accidents each year and to share simple steps that can help keep our pets safe.

While the risk of cats being involved in a road accident is relatively low, accidents can cause serious or life-changing injuries.

Here are a few practical ways to further reduce the risk:

✅ Neuter your cat, as neutered cats are less likely to roam in search of a mate
✅ Keep cats indoors after dark when drivers may find it harder to see them
✅ Use a quick-release reflective collar to help improve visibility at night
✅ Make sure your cat has everything they need at home, reducing the urge to wander far from their territory

Every cat is different, but taking a few simple precautions can make a big difference to their safety.

Could you be the one to help Luigi blossom? 🐾

Luigi is a gentle, shy boy looking for a patient and understanding home where he can continue to grow in confidence.

Luigi came into our care with his brother Mario after their owner sadly lost her home in a fire and could no longer keep them. It's been a huge upheaval for him, but in the short time he's been with us, he's already started to come out of his shell and show us what a sweet-natured lad he is.

Since coming into care, we've learnt that Mario tested positive for FIV. Luigi's own test was negative, which is encouraging news. However, because the brothers lived together, our vets have recommended a follow-up test in a few weeks' time simply to confirm the result. This is a precautionary step, as it can sometimes take a little while after exposure for FIV to show up on a test.

The good news is that Luigi doesn't need to wait to find his forever home. He's healthy, ready to be adopted and is looking for a quiet, indoor home (for now) while we complete this final check, which we will arrange and cover the cost.

With time, patience and plenty of love, we know Luigi will become a wonderful companion, and the bond you build with him will be incredibly rewarding.

Come and visit the Cats Protection Telford & District Branch stall today and help us raise vital funds for local cats in need.

Meet Sid, a truly special boy who is looking for an equally special home to call his own. ❤️

Sid is a friendly, affectionate cat who loves life and enjoys all the things you'd expect from a happy feline companion. The only difference is that Sid has epilepsy, which is currently well managed with his daily medication.

While he’s doing brilliantly, Sid will need a dedicated family who can continue his treatment, attend regular vet check-ups, and understand that he may occasionally experience a seizure. In return, you'll gain a loving companion who has so much affection to give.

We're looking for adopters who can see beyond Sid's medical condition and recognise the wonderful cat he is. With the right care and commitment, there's every reason for Sid to continue living a happy and fulfilling life.
