This Feature Friday celebrates some of my puppy clients and the parents helping them learn 🐶

It’s now been four years of getting to do what I love most. Getting to help dogs and their people, building confidence, celebrating progress and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. 🐾💙

One of the precious parts has been getting to know so many of you who have become friends. Seeing the relationships you build with your dogs and being a small part of your journey means so much to me.

Thank you for trusting me, recommending me and supporting my little business. Most of all, thank you for your friendship and continued support. I couldn’t do this without you. 💙

Does your dog see another dog and forget you’re there? 🐾

Socialisation means learning to be around other dogs without needing to greet or play with every one.

Give them space, make time with you enjoyable create value and reward those little check-ins.

These two will be joining puppy classes in November, but we’ve already been working together through 1:1s to get those foundations started.

Mum and dad have been working hard at home, and it was great to get out with them and start putting those skills into practice somewhere different.

🐾💙 A little thought for Tip Tuesday…

“Why does my dog do it at home, but not when we’re out?”

Have a think about what’s going on around them. New smells, people, dogs… it can be a lot to take in!

I talk to my clients about red, amber and green areas.

🟢 Green — somewhere your dog can engage with you and understand what you’re asking. Start building your tools here.

🟠 Amber — things are getting a bit harder. Can you give them more distance, make it easier or use movement to help them engage?

🔴 Red — it’s all too much at the moment. Give them space and move somewhere they can cope.

Your green area might be another dog’s red area. Watch YOUR dog and what they’re telling you. 💙

If they’re struggling, don’t keep asking for more. Take a step back and help them understand.

Keep it little and often, reward the behaviours you want to see again and keep building that toolbox.

Small incremental learning steps.
