Today I had the gorgeous Douglas at Groomzy Paws — a big boy with the softest heart. Such a gentle giant and absolutely adorable. 🐶❤️
Being a dog groomer is about so much more than a haircut.
A dog cannot tell you, “I’m tired,” “That hurts,” “I’m scared,” or “I need a little break.” So it’s our responsibility as groomers to notice the little signs and listen to what their body is telling us.
We work with scissors and equipment around dogs that can move unexpectedly, so patience, concentration and gentle handling are incredibly important. ✂️🐾
We need to know when to stop and give them a break. We need to be aware of health problems, sore joints, sensitive areas and especially the needs of older dogs. Sometimes the perfect-looking groom simply isn’t as important as keeping that dog comfortable and happy.
Every dog deserves kindness, patience and respect — whether they are young, old, tiny, huge, nervous or confident.
At Groomzy Paws, I will never rush a dog or put unnecessary pressure on them just to finish a groom.
Their wellbeing will always come first. ❤️🐾
And Douglas… you were an absolute sweetheart today. 🥰
