Animals Addictive

What a great day we had at Invert Shows UK Coventry yesterday! 🕷️🖤

It was so lovely catching up with some of our regular customers and meeting lots of new faces too. We always enjoy having a chat with you all, seeing what you’ve been keeping and helping you choose your next additions.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, whether you picked something up, had a chat or just popped over to say hello. We really do appreciate every bit of support you give us.

It was also lovely seeing so many of our animals heading off to their new homes. 🕷️🦂

Thanks again for a brilliant day Coventry — we had a great time and can’t wait to see you all again at the next one! 🖤

🍃 GIANTS IN THE MAKING! 🍃

Check out one of our Giant Malaysian Leaf Insects (Pulchriphyllium giganteum)! 😍

It might already look pretty impressive, but this one is still only a youngster and has plenty of growing left to do! 🌿

Their incredible leaf-like camouflage is amazing — right down to the veins, colours and slightly ragged edges that make them look just like a real leaf. 🍂

And here’s something really cool about them… 👀
🥚 They can reproduce through parthenogenesis! This means females can lay fertile eggs without needing a male, producing female offspring that are essentially genetic clones of their mum!

Because of this, males can be quite rare to come across compared with females.

As they mature, the females in particular can become seriously BIG! 😲

We’ll definitely be sharing updates as these little leaves continue to grow! 🍃

Have you ever kept leaf insects? Show us yours in the comments! 👇

💚 Just look at that colour! 💚

Our Emerald Cockroache (Pseudoglomeris magnifica) have to be some of the most stunning roaches around! 😍🪳

That incredible metallic emerald-green colour almost doesn’t look real, especially when the light catches them. ✨

They’re a brilliant species to keep and definitely one that stands out in any collection. We could sit and watch these guys all day!

Who else is addicted to unusual invertebrates? 👀💚

🐹 Meet Marshmallow! 🤍

Thought we’d give the spiders a day off and let Marshmallow take over the page 😂

Just look at that little face! 😍 She might not have eight legs, but she’s definitely still part of the Animals Addictive family.
Who else has a soft spot for hamsters? 🐹❤️

Let’s see your little furry friends in the comments! 👇

🕷️ Golden Blue Leg Baboon – Harpactira pulchripes 🕷️

Just look at those colours! 😍
This is our Golden Blue Leg Baboon Female and definitely one of those tarantulas that looks even better in person. Those golden markings against the blue legs are absolutely stunning!
Like most baboons though… probably best admired with your hands OUT of the enclosure 😂
Who else keeps one of these? And if you don't — would you? 👀👇
