🐾 URGENT FOSTER APPEAL – CAN YOU HELP GIVE A DOG A SECOND CHANCE?

We’re urgently looking for specific foster homes for some of the dogs coming into our care.

We’re seeing more and more dogs who need foster placements with people who have the time, patience and commitment to help them work through complex behaviours. These dogs can be incredibly rewarding, but they need the right environment and people around them.

🏡 We are looking for fosterers who:

👥 Have at least 2 adults living in the home
🚫 Have no other pets
🐶 You’re confident and willing to work with larger, strong or excitable dogs who may present complex or challenging behaviours
🧠 Are committed to following individual guidance and training plans provided by our Behaviour Team
⏰ Have spare time and patience to dedicate to helping a dog settle, learn and progress
❤️ Understand that progress may take time and are willing to work as part of a team

What matters most is that you are committed, patient, willing to learn and able to follow the support and guidance provided by our experienced Behaviour Team.

We know this is a very specific ask, and that’s exactly why we’re struggling to find the right foster homes for these dogs.

But for the right person or household, you could make an enormous difference. 💙

By opening your home to a dog who needs a little extra help, you can give them the time and support they need to work through their behaviours and move towards a happier future.

📩 Could you be one of our specialist fosterers?

If you think you might be able to help, or know someone who could, please get in touch with us at [email protected] to make enquiries or complete a dog fosterer application. https://volunteer.rspca.org.uk/opportunities/90452-dog-fosterer-west-hatch-taunton-2025-06-03

Please share far and wide – the right foster home could be out there waiting to see this post. 🐾💙

Charlie and Jasper are one of the most closely bonded pairs of cats we've seen in recent years, often found sleeping on top of one another in a jumble of legs. Despite how much time they spend intertwined, it's been near impossible to capture it!

Here they are fresh from a brotherly nap, miffed that we snapped a photo!

They're also now the longest stay cats in our care, having been with us for over 220 days with no home on the horizon.
Although they can be timid of new people, Charlie and Jasper are lovely boys who deserve a second chance just as much as all the other cats who have been and gone in their time.

If you could offer them a home, visit their profile here: https://shorturl.at/45Z0P

💗 Meet Sandy – ready for her forever home! 💗

Sandy has had a difficult start to life. She arrived at the RSPCA as a sick puppy, needing extensive medical care and, sadly, eventually having one of her eyes removed.

But Sandy’s past hasn’t held her back! 🥰 After six wonderful months in a loving foster home, she has blossomed into a happy, affectionate and playful girl who loves her people, toys, walks and meeting new friends.

She’s housetrained, travels well in the car and can be left for short periods, although she’d much rather have company for most of the day.

🏡 Sandy would like to be the only dog in her new home and could potentially live with sensible, dog-savvy older children. She can be sensitive to sudden loud noises, so she’ll need patient adopters who will help her continue building her confidence.

Sandy has come such a long way and now deserves a forever family who will cherish her for the wonderful dog she is. ❤️

Brachycephalic breeds are at greater risk of developing health problems, so please consider potential veterinary costs before applying.

🐾 WOW… just WOW! 🐾

We want to say the BIGGEST thank you to everyone who has sent treats for our dogs following our recent appeal. ❤️

We have been completely overwhelmed by your generosity — our cupboards are looking considerably less bare, and our dogs are VERY happy about it! 🐶🍖

Your kindness means so much to us, and every single treat will be greatly appreciated by the dogs in our care.

If you would still like to spoil our residents, you can find our wishlist here: https://amzn.to/2wnWBSh

Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤️

Quincy has been informed of your kindness and will, of course, be telling all his friends just how wonderful you are. 🥰🐾

Are you looking for a farm cat? Mickey would like to volunteer himself! 👋

Mickey is the last of his group to find a home, the others have all been adopted while he patiently waits for his first application...💔
Playful, curious and full of character, Mickey has so much to bring to an outdoor home where he can live a supported life and thrive. We have worked hard with Mickey to build up his confidence, which has come on beautifully, but it's clear he prefers to be away from people and do his own thing.

Can you, or someone you know, give Mickey the independence he deserves? Please share, or apply to adopt him here: https://shorturl.at/qDgHS

Jack enjoyed a little time out in the bungalow garden today, where he could simply relax in the peace and shade. 💙

For Jack, moments like these are important. He was removed from his previous home after suffering abuse at the hands of his owner, and his difficult experiences have understandably left him needing extra patience and understanding .
Please take a moment to read Jack's full profile, which contains much more information about the type of home he is looking for: https://tinyurl.com/4nptje3n

If you can't offer Jack a home, please help him by sharing this post. His perfect person could be just one share away. ❤️

🚨 OUR CUPBOARDS ARE BARE! 🚨

Big Quincy has volunteered to put on his most irresistible face to ask for a little help... 🥺🐾

We are running very low on some of our dogs’ favourite things, and our supplies of tins of dog food and tasty treats are almost gone!
We would be incredibly grateful for donations of:

🐶 Tins of dog food
🦴 Training treats
🍖 Bonios
🪥 Dentastix
🐾 Or pretty much anything else that makes a dog's tail wag!

Every treat helps us reward our dogs, build their confidence, support their training and, of course, remind them that life can be pretty wonderful! ❤️
If you are able to help, donations can be dropped off at the centre, or you can send something directly to us through our Amazon Wish List: https://amzn.eu/i6bhWW6

No donation is too small, and we are so grateful for every single item. Quincy — and all of his friends — will certainly appreciate it! 🐶❤️

Thank you so much for helping us keep those tails wagging!
Quincy would also like to remind you that he is still seeking a new home - https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/west-hatch-animal-centre/findapet/details/Quincy/ANI03432/rehome

Here’s a rubbish appeal… and we mean that quite literally! 😂

Both our Animal Centre and Wildlife Centre are desperately running low on long-cut shredded paper, and we’d be incredibly grateful for any donations.

It might not look very exciting, but this humble pile of paper is used every single day! Our hedgehogs love it for creating cosy hiding places, it’s great for enrichment, and it also helps keep one particular blanket-chomping dog safe… because if we leave other types of bedding with him, there’s a good chance he’ll try to eat that too! 🙈🐶

So, if you have any long-cut shredded paper going spare, we would love to give it a new purpose.

Please note: it needs to be long-cut strips rather than the small cross-cut pieces.

Help us keep our hedgehogs cosy and our resident bedding-eater from turning blankets into snacks! 🦔🐾

Thank you so much for your support! 💙
