Today Narla had her first post spay Mctimmoney appointment, she wasn't amused in the slightest but you could see the relief it gave her pretty quickly. As I suspected she was indeed wonky again and was quite sore in several areas where she would have held herself differently whilst she healed.
Over the last wk or so Narla has been more restless, quick to get over aroused, vocalising more, more forceful in play, increased hard mouthing, grumpy with some touch, refusing and avoiding some known cues, short striding with her back legs, tail down much more, standing differently from her normal, scratching and licking increased.
When you are struggling with behaviour it is easy to focus on trying to fix things with the training aspect alone but in so many cases there is a bigger picture that needs looking at to be able to get on the right path and support our 4 legged friends as much as we can. Since Narla has been home from her appointment she has chilled out and snoozed on the office bed as well as been much more affectionate in a calm sweet way rather than a bull in a China shop way.
It will be interesting to see how many of the behaviours above naturally disappear and how her next appointment goes.
