🐶 PUPPY COURSE - OCTOBER SPACES NOW OPEN!

Got a new puppy? Start as you mean to go on. 💙

Our 6-week Puppy Course is designed to help you build the foundations for a confident, well-mannered dog - while giving you the skills to actually understand and train the puppy in front of you.

Over the 6 weeks we’ll work on:

🐾 Real-life skills - training that actually matters outside of class
🎯 Basic obedience - building focus, recall, lead skills and more
🌍 Socialisation - learning how to introduce your puppy to the world properly (it’s not just about meeting lots of dogs!)
💪 Confidence & resilience - helping puppies learn to cope with new experiences
🙌 Handling skills - preparing them for grooming, vets and everyday life
🧠 Understanding your puppy - so you know how to keep progressing at home

We have 3 trainers, meaning plenty of individual help throughout the course, alongside video guidance, a group Whatsapp and homework to hone your skills.

We train outdoors so your puppy gets to practise learning around the sights, sounds, smells and distractions they’ll actually encounter in everyday life without overwhelm.

📅 Starts Saturday 3rd October
⏰ 9:30am weekly for 6 weeks
📍 Grendon Dog Field, Tamworth
💷 £120 for the full 6-week course

If you can't make all 6 weeks, we offer additional puppy recap 1 to 1s.

If you want to give your puppy a solid start, we’d love to have you. 🐶

🐾THE DOG SOCIAL WALK 🐾

Does your dog think seeing another dog means they have to say hello? 👀

Maybe they’re super friendly, easily distracted, get over-excited around other dogs, or simply haven’t quite mastered the art of minding their own business yet. 😂

The Dog Social Walk is a 90-minute structured group walk designed to help dogs practice something we think is massively underrated: being around other dogs without necessarily needing to interact with them.

No free-for-all. No chaos. No pressure to make friends. Just walking, training and learning to be comfortable in the company of other dogs.

It’s a great opportunity to:
🐶 Build calmness and neutrality around other dogs
🎯 Practise focus and engagement in the real world
🚶 Learn while actually out walking, rather than in a training field
👥 Get support from our trainers along the way

And if you've been thinking about joining one of our regular walking groups but aren't quite sure whether you or your dog are ready, this could be the perfect stepping stone.

📅 Saturday 26th September
⏰ 3:00pm - 4:30pm
📍 Banners Gate, Sutton Park
💷 £25 per dog

You don't need to be an existing client to join us - new faces are very welcome. 💙

⚠️ This isn't specifically a reactive-dog walk, so if your dog has significant reactivity towards other dogs, please get in touch before booking and we'll help you work out whether it's suitable.
..

Over the next few days and weeks we'll be adding lots more workshops, training sessions and group walks to our calendar, giving you more ways to get out, train your dog and become part of our community.

Fancy joining the walk?

🐾 SCENT DETECTION CLASSES - TAMWORTH/ATHERSTONE

Live in or around Tamworth and fancy doing something a little different with your dog?

We run weekly Scent Detection classes at Grendon Dog Field, where you and your dog can learn how to search for and identify a specific scent.

Scentwork isn’t just about teaching your dog to sniff. It teaches you how to work together as a team, gives your dog a job to focus on and makes you part of the fun, whilst giving them a brilliant natural outlet at the same time.

🐶 It’s mentally tiring: Using their nose and processing scent can be surprisingly hard work.

👃 It taps into natural behaviour: Dogs experience so much of their world through scent, so searching gives them an appropriate outlet for something they already love doing.

💪 It can build confidence: Particularly for dogs who are nervous or unsure, as they learn to independently problem-solve and succeed.

🧠 It develops focus and problem-solving: Dogs learn to work methodically rather than simply relying on us for the answer.

🤝 It strengthens your relationship: You learn to read your dog’s subtle body language while they learn that working with you leads to great things.

⚡ Great for busy dogs: Scentwork gives energetic and high-drive dogs somewhere productive to channel that enthusiasm.

♿ Low impact and accessible: You don’t need a super-fit dog or handler to get involved, making it suitable for a huge variety of dogs and great for a rainy day!

So, what do we actually teach?

🔎 Search ID - “What am I looking for?”
First, we teach your dog which specific scent earns the reward.

🌿 Search Phase - “Now go and find it!”
Once they understand the target scent, we start building searches and gradually make them more challenging.

🚩 Indication Phase - “I’ve found it!”
Finally, we teach your dog a clear way of communicating when they’ve located the scent.

And if you catch the scentwork bug, there’s plenty more to work towards!

Once you’ve mastered the foundations, you can work through our Bronze and Silver Scent Detection progression booklets, giving you clear skills and challenges to work towards. It gives your training a purpose, helps you see how far you’ve come and gives you that next goal to aim for.

Classes are kept small and friendly, so you get plenty of individual support while still feeling part of a little community of people who enjoy doing something fun with their dogs.

📅 Wednesdays @ 11:45am
📅 Saturdays @ 12:30pm
📍 Grendon Dog Field, near Atherstone/Tamworth

Interested in giving it a go?

📱 Send us a Whatsapp message on 07817 966 512 to find out more or book your first class. No previous scentwork experience needed. Just bring your dog and their nose! 🐕👃

🐾 WE WANT YOUR THOUGHTS! 🐾

We’re thinking about giving our Lifeskills classes a bit of a shake-up and we’d love to know what YOU would actually find useful.

At the moment, Lifeskills is a weekly drop-in class on Wednesdays and Saturdays covering a mixture of different training exercises. Pretty casual - great for flexibility but not for structure. We’re considering changing it to short, focused courses, where we spend a couple of weeks really getting stuck into one particular skill.

For example:

🐕 3 week Loose Lead Walking Course
🚀 2 week Recall Course
🧠 2 week Impulse Control Course
🛑 3 week Emergency Stops & Distance Control Course
🌍 2 week Arousal & Motivation Course
🎯 3 week Engagement & Motivation Course
💤 2 week Settle Course

Rather than doing a little bit of everything, we could spend 2-3 weeks progressing one skill properly, giving you exercises to work on between sessions and building difficulty each week. Or we could do workshops here and there.

You’d still get the relaxed, supportive atmosphere of our classes - just with a clearer goal to work towards.

Same class cost, but you'd have to commit to the course or wait for the next one.

Drop your thoughts below - we genuinely want to shape these around what our clients and local dog owners need. 🐾

Ruby’s owners have done a fantastic job with exercise, keeping her trim and in tip top condition, but she’s missing a vital part of her daily lifestyle - fulfilment!

Shes a little firecracker of a dog (I could have nabbed her and taken her home) and enjoys keeping her owners on their toes! She has a high prey drive and enjoys chasing things that move… lorries included. She may be small but small dogs definitely need outlets too.

Dachshunds were bred to hunt. Terriers were bred to chase, dig and kill vermin. Spaniels were bred to search and flush. Most of them weren’t bred for being couch potatoes. And most need a little more than just an A to B walk.

Let them sniff. Let them search. Let them dig. Let them chase appropriate things. Let them climb, explore, problem solve and actually use their bodies and brains. It’s okay to tell them no when their behaviour is inappropriate, but make sure you’re also providing opportunities for them to fulfil their breed and personality type. Otherwise, they may well go self-employed.

A lot of the behaviour we call “naughty”, “hyper” or “stubborn” is coming from dogs who simply aren’t getting enough opportunity to be dogs.

You don’t need to exhaust them.

You need to fulfil them. 👈🏻👈🏻👈🏻👈🏻

Same owner. Same house. Three VERY different dogs. 😂

One of the things I love about dogs is that you can do everything “the same” and still end up with completely different characters.

Pablo is intense, busy and always ready for whatever is happening next. If there’s something going on, he absolutely needs to be involved.

Rosie is confident, happy-go-lucky and generally just pleased to be here. Food, people, dogs, adventures… she’s game.

And then there’s Bowser, who sat this adventure out because three legs and a full day out aren’t really his jam anymore. He’s the regal, serious gentleman of the household who likes to maintain a certain level of dignity. 👑

Three dogs, raised in the same home, but all needing slightly different things from me.

And that’s something we see with clients all the time too. Good training isn’t necessarily doing the exact same thing with every dog. It’s figuring out what works for the one standing in front of you.

What’s the biggest personality trait your dog came pre-installed with? 👇

Come along to our Little Legs social walk this Sunday! 🫶🏻🐾

A walk designed specifically for small breeds (under 10kg) to help them socialise with other dogs of a similar size, whilst building confidence out and about in a real life environment.

These walks run every other Sunday at 10:30am for 45 mins. Each walk takes places in a different environment, including park, street and town centre walks. 🌳🐾

Like the sound of it?
We would love for you to join us! 🩷

A question for you dog people this morning… 👀

What’s one thing your dog can do now that you’re genuinely proud of?

Not necessarily their fanciest trick or their best obedience.

🎉Maybe they can finally walk past another dog without losing their mind.
🎉Maybe they settle in the pub.
🎉Maybe their recall has finally clicked.
🎉Maybe they’ve learnt to cope with something they used to find really difficult.

We spend so much time thinking about what our dogs still need to work on that it’s easy to forget how far they’ve already come.

For mine, it’s Pablo being calmer around dogs and reading social cues more effectively. ❤️
