✨ New Instructor Announcement ✨

We are delighted to have Holly from BearsK9s (Chelmsford) on board with us, the first to qualify from our Feb-May Course.

💬 Holly says:
I have a german shepherd who since a puppy has had very limited interest in bitey dog things, instead she gets so much enjoyment out of retrievals and the obedience side of gundog training.

We tried multiple gundog trainers in our area who didn’t want anything to do with her because of her breed, and then we found Scurry Dog. It was exactly what we were looking for, for both my dog and something I knew I wanted to be a part of and bring to other people.

The inclusivity of Scurry Dog was what originally got our attention and my aim is to show that you do not have to have a certain breed in order to do a certain activity. What drives and motivates a dog is completely unique and may not necessarily be what is expected of them genetically, however we still want to ensure those needs are met. For many dogs, Scurry Dog
could be the answer to this.

The course itself was amazing. We had so much fun developing our knowledge and understanding of the games, building our skills as a team and seeing how to transfer this into teaching others.

Scurry Dog is an amazing, supportive community that I am honoured to be a part of. I cannot wait to welcome others into the community and show them just how much Scurry Dog games can help fulfill their dogs and improve their training.

A huge welcome to Ceri from TeamG Canine Services, Pontyclun.

Ceri says: “The best thing about the Scurry dog course was the amount of knowledge Aleks & Clare have to share that I can now pass onto my own Scurry Dog family through the training. The no pressure approach made learning how to pass on the skills much more enjoyable & the camps were great fun!! Im unbelievably excited to bring Scurry Dog to TeamG and to pass on my training knowledge in a fun relaxed approach. I made friends for life on the course and looking forward to making more through TeamG!”

Thanks you Lee for sharing this with us!

When we set out with our Scurry Dog plan 3 years ago, we knew we wanted it to make people, dogs, and trainers, all fall in love with training!

We love seeing this come to life for so many of our community ✨

➡️ If you’re a trainer who feels stuck in their business, Scurry Dog could be the thing for you! Our next Instructors Course is coming up in June, and has just a handful of spaces left.

✨ New Instructor Announcement ✨

Jan (Pups and Pooches Dog Training) is based in Chester. Pups and Pooches provides training grounded in the most up to date understanding of how dogs learn and what they need to truly thrive, not just cope.

My approach focuses on building emotional wellbeing, confidence, and calmness so that your dog can enjoy life and meet its full potential.

Scurry Dog fits perfectly with my wider training philosophy: learning should be enjoyable, emotionally supportive, and tailored to the individual dog.

It’s another way I help dogs thrive — not just survive.

The secret to better off-lead walks is building a connection that’s like an invisible thread between you and your dog - even when they’re off the lead.

A glimpse into our Scurry Dog Scramble Grid Level 2 setup 🧭✨

Inspired by gundog training, this game is all about precision, distance handling, and directional cues.

Just like a working dog being guided to a blind retrieve over a field, my spaniel is learning to navigate a specific grid of tasks entirely through communication at a distance.

Why do we train this?

Because the benefits transfer directly to everyday life:

1️⃣ Better Off-Lead Responsiveness: When your dog learns to look back and listen for cues from a distance, they stop zoning out on walks.

2️⃣ Safety and Control: If they get stuck on the other side of a fence or head toward danger, you have the mechanics to stop them and direct them safely away.

3️⃣ Mental Fulfillment: It gives active, high-drive breeds a massive brain workout, satisfying their natural working instincts so they come home happy-tired.

Precision, control, and a rock-solid bond - without a lead in sight.

Well done to all of our brilliant Instructors who came to the Trials camp this weekend 🌟

Our Trials Camps bring Instructors on each course together to practice setting up the Games, scoring, and an opportunity to wrap up their own assessments. Plus have fun training their own dogs at the same time!

A huge well done to everyone who has worked so hard on this Course.

And a special shout out to Holly who has passed the Course, and is now a fully qualified Instructor bringing Scurry Dog to Essex!

➡️ We have a few spots available on our last 2026 Instructors Course starting in July. DM us for more details!

The roll call or recall by name is a simple drill that we do with our own diss and our clients dogs in EVERY SINGLE walk at least once.

Why?

Because:
✅ It gives our dogs a mental task 🧠
✅ It helps our dogs focus even when they're very pumped and fizzy ⚡
✅ Its a key foundation skill for super fun group retrieves, our favourite game 🥎
✅ It helps us rehearse for emergencies and challenging everyday life situations 🛟
✅ We get to practise for beautiful group photos 😉
✅ It prepares it's and our our dogs for the Scurry Dog Everyday Dog trials 🤟🏻
