🐶 Group Puppy Classes 🐶
I'm super excited to say that group puppy classes are now open for booking. Run by trainer and behaviourist Emily Fulthorpe (who is accredited with the APDT and ABTC as recommended by the RSPCA and Dogs Trust) you will receive high quality science backed training. All training is force free and uses rewards to motivate your dog. Classes limited to six puppies.
📍Where: Townhill Baptist Church Field in Swansea (outside classes in a fenced field to mimic real life environments)
🗓️ When: Friday mornings
👉 Price: £125 for a five week course
We cover:
✅Basic cues like sit, stay, come when called, walking on lead, drop and leave
✅Chewing, mouthing, jumping up, being left alone and being calm in different environments
✅Confidence around other dogs and people while saying hello politely
✅Time to discuss any issues you are having

😀Enjoying Walks😀
Oreo and his wonderful owners have been doing their homework and walks on lead are already much calmer around other dogs. Oreo gets worried and then overreacts, so we've been building his confidence and teaching him alternative behaviours to feel safe, rather than trying to scare the other dog off. Today we worked on building these skills at a distance, with the long term goal of him being off lead and confident ❤️

‼️ Group Puppy Classes ‼️
I've been working hard to secure a venue so that group puppy classes can restart, and the good news is that I'm nearly there 🥳
Classes will initially be on weekday mornings (days to be decided, but hopefully a Friday and possibly a Wednesday) at 10am in the Sketty area and costs £125 for five 45 minute classes. 🐾 Recall and Reactivity 🐾
Awesome Oreo has started training to work on his reactivity around some other dogs and to improve his recall (which is currently hit and miss depending on what else is going on). He had a great time, which is just what we want from a training session. Relaxed, happy dogs are able to learn ❤️

🐾 Clever Chestnut 🐾
This super handsome boy knows how to win people over, and is a total softie. He's also pretty strong and gets distracted (he's got a typical spaniel brain!) so finds walking nicely on lead and coming when called pretty challenging. We've started his training for both and he did really well - he's a smart boy!

🔥 Hot Hot Hot 🔥
At Clever Canines Dog Training we train in the places where your dog needs the practice - which often means outside on pavements or in parks rather than in a hall or other artificial environment. This is great for training and progress, but means that when it gets super hot all our outside training is unfortunately postponed - we don't want any burnt paws or sick doggos! So you know the drill, walk early or late and check the pavement temperature before letting your dog walk on it.

🐶 Barking on lead 🐶
Handsome Newton is a super smart boy who struggles passing other dogs calmly when on lead. Like many dogs, he's fine off lead as he can take his time and avoid if he wants to, but panics when on lead as he knows his escape options are much more limited. We worked on building his confidence and helping him slow down and process what's going on. Well done Newton!

🐾 Pretty Peony 🐾
Peony is a gorgeous rescue pooch who sometimes lacks confidence around other dogs and shows this by barking at them and trying to chase them off. We worked on helping her to think that dogs being present means good things are about to happen, and progressed to her choosing to look away from other dogs without being prompted. What a clever little sausage.

🦴 Resource Guarding 🦴
Beautiful Sora had a really tough start in life and her owners are working hard to make sure that she's able to feel confident in all environments. One thing she finds tricky is other dogs and some people being around when she has things she values. She guards her food, toys, bed, space and owners - because she's worried. We worked on building a positive association with a dog approaching her precious treasures. She did really well ❤️

🐶 Walking Nicely 🐶
Like many dogs, Winston loves his walks and wants to do all the exploring as fast as he can, leading to pulling and an uncomfortable experience for everyone involved. We worked on teaching him that he got what he wanted faster by sticking next to us, and he enjoyed some tasty bonus treats as well as the natural reward of moving forwards when he wasn't pulling. He did brilliantly, and managed some lovely loose lead walking without his halti which just wasn't possible before. Keep up the great work!
