As many of you already know, on Sunday 4th October, I will be running Cardiff half in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Our daughter Esme was born in 2021 unknowingly with a heart defect which required open heart surgery at 6 months old. So I’m running this for her and all the children like her who are born with heart conditions. ❤️

We’ve seen first-hand recently, through visiting researchers at Swansea University, just how important BHF funding is in helping research into heart conditions and improving the future for children like Esme.

I’ve decided to do a little raffle to help me reach my target for the British Heart Foundation. 🏃🏼‍♀️❤️

I only have 13 appointments left for the rest of the year, so please be mindful of your bookings 🗓️

❌Any no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours of your appointment will be charged 100% of the appointment fee ❌

In the last 3 weeks alone, I’ve had 5 no-shows or last-minute cancellations. As a small business owner and a mum, my time is incredibly valuable. When I’m at work, my daughter is with family so I can be there for my clients, and missed appointments have a real impact on both my business and family life 🏡

☀️ Weather Update for This Week ☀️

With the warmer weather this week, the safety and comfort of our dogs is our top priority.

The temperature inside the salon rises by around 2°C with every dog we have in due to the heat of the day as well as the hot driers! So we will be closely monitoring the temperature throughout each day. A safe working temperature is usually around 24°C, and if the salon becomes too warm, we may need to adjust appointments at short notice to ensure all dogs remain comfortable and safe.

🐾 Please do not walk your dogs to their appointment in this heat. If possible, bring them in an air-conditioned vehicle or keep their journey as short as possible.

💧 Make sure your dogs have access to plenty of fresh water throughout the day and avoid walking them during the hottest parts of the day.

Back to work today after a very busy weekend in London ❤️

We spent the weekend supporting as he took on the for the , and we’re honestly overwhelmed by the amount of love and support we’ve received.

Thanks to everyone who donated, shared, messaged, and cheered him on. Together we’ve raised an incredible amount of money for such an important cause, and we’re so grateful for every single bit of support. And thanks again to for our sling, I wouldn’t have been able to get Esme around without it!

Yesterday alone raised £3,730, which means over the last 3 years we’ve now raised £17,750 for the British Heart Foundation, and £35,605 for various charities over the past 5 years ..all in Esme’s name ❤️

I’ve got lots of messages to catch up on after the weekend, so please bear with me and I’ll get back to everyone ASAP ❤️

Now it’s time to get back to doing what we do best ✂️

House of Dogs is taking a little trip to London this weekend and not just for a break… ❤️

Behind this small business is a story that changed our family forever, and this weekend we’ll be cheering on as he takes on the London Marathon for a cause incredibly close to our hearts.

Most of our regulars already know a little of our story, and although I don’t often share much of my personal life on social media, this is something deeply important to our family.

Back in 2021, I went off on maternity leave expecting those newborn days to look a certain way. But at just 10 days old, our daughter Esme unknowingly went into heart failure. At 14 days old, she was diagnosed with AVSD. It was a huge shock for all of us 😔

Esme needed open heart surgery in 2021, and we know she will need further surgery at some point down the line. Through everything, she has shown more strength than we could ever imagine and she is without a doubt the thing I am most proud of in this life ☺️💪🏼

I share our story because if it helps even one family feel less alone, it’s worth sharing 🫶🏼

My partner Mathew started running as a way to cope with everything we were going through. Over the past 5 years he has taken on so many incredible challenges, and for the last 3 years we’ve been fundraising for the British Heart Foundation through events including the London Marathon 🏃

Together, we’ve now raised an incredible £35,000, with £17,145 raised for BHF alone. We honestly cannot thank everyone enough for the support, donations, encouragement and love along the way ❤️
