👻 We’ve been preparing spooky season here at Jack’s! 🎃

Chicco was the first one to try our Halloween backdrop (and he looks sooooo handsome 😍) and to try on all the costumes we have available for a stylish photo at the vets!! 🎃

🐾 Ralphie’s story is a great example of how diagnostics and personalised care work together at Jack’s!

🐶 Ralphie came in with a sore ear, but during his examination Dr Sara spotted a few unrelated abnormalities she felt were worth investigating.

💷 Before running any tests, Sara discussed what she had found, why bloods could be helpful and the costs involved with Ralphie’s owner.

We believe investigations should have a reason behind them, with options and costs discussed upfront.

🩸 After his blood results, Sara and Ralphie’s owner decided together that an ultrasound was the best next step.

🖥️ Sara performed Ralphie’s ultrasound herself, giving her a detailed, real-time look at his internal organs and tissues and helping to find answers that blood tests alone couldn’t provide. The cost was agreed beforehand and, when Ralphie needed a little sedation, this was included in the ultrasound price — no unexpected extras.

🩺 Our RVN Nia monitored Ralphie throughout his sedation and recovery.

📊 Afterwards, Sara showed Ralphie’s owner the images, explained her findings and together they discussed what came next.

🐾 Gwen 🐾

This gorgeous girl has spent a few days with us and we are crossing fingers she continues to recover smoothly, now at home, with her amazing and loving family 🥰

Within the exams and checks that were done, Gwen had regular blood pressure checks!

Blood pressure checks become increasingly important as our pets get older as just like in people, dogs and cats can develop high blood pressure (hypertension), and it often causes no obvious signs at home…

The risk is higher when certain conditions are present, including chronic kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease and hyperthyroidism. High blood pressure can affect important organs such as the eyes, kidneys, heart and brain, so identifying it early can help us monitor and manage these changes before they cause more serious problems!

The good news? Measuring blood pressure is quick, non-invasive and usually well tolerated by our pawtients ❤️

For senior pawtients, particularly those with underlying health conditions, regular blood pressure is just another useful tool alongside other tests that will help us look after your pets just like if they were ours ❤️

🐾 We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Receptionist / Customer Experience Lead to join our team at Jack’s Veterinary in Killay, Swansea.

💛 A huge part of Jack’s reputation has been built on the friendly, welcoming and personal service our clients receive from the moment they walk through the door or pick up the phone. We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys looking after people and can combine that warmth with excellent organisation, efficiency and attention to detail.

📋 This is a hands-on reception role with additional responsibility for customer experience, including:

👋Supporting clients face-to-face and by telephone
📅 Managing appointments, payments and client requests
💬 Handling more challenging conversations, concerns and complaints
🐾 Helping manage the Jack’s Membership scheme
✨ Maintaining the high standards of presentation and cleanliness our clients expect
✅ Following through on tasks and making sure clients receive the updates they have been promised

⭐ Previous relevant experience is required.

💷 £27,000–£30,000 per year DOE
🕒 40 hours preferred – 35 hours considered

Ralph 💛

The most fashionable bandage for the most handsome sausage!
After a bandage that only lasted a few hours 🥲 our most recent addition to the team, Eva, a student veterinary nurse, has gone all in on Ralph’s new bandage!!

Tomaz is a 10-year-old gentleman who came to see us for investigation of a heart murmur ❤️ 🩺

His very thorough pawrents also opted for a full blood test, allowing us to check his haematology and biochemistry as part of his senior health check.

Tomaz was an absolute dream patient, chilled, cuddly and full of charm! 🥰

In between his blood sampling and ultrasound scan, he even found some time for plenty of cwtches with our lovely nurse, Nia! 🐾

Tomaz, we hope you enjoyed your visit with us as much as we enjoyed having you! And please pass on a big thank you to your pawrents for trusting us with your care💕🐶

This handsome little prince (as his lovely owner calls him) surprised us with a box of delicious doughnuts and the sweetest card. ❤️

It’s thoughtful gestures like these that make our days even brighter. Thank you to all of our wonderful clients for the trust you place in us every day. Caring for your pets is a privilege, and each one is looked after as if they were one of our own. 🤍

A special thank you to Rebel for this lovely treat! Safe to say the doughnuts disappeared a little too quickly for us to get a photo of the box untouched… 🙈🍩
