All About Second Chance Animal Rescue:

Hi my name is John, I am the founder member of Second Chance Animal Rescue in Crockenhill, or SCAR as it’s become known as by our volunteers & supporters. I have been caring and rescuing animals on a small scale for as long as I can remember, first at home with my parents, then from my own garden until finally in 2011 I was lucky enough to find a small plot

of land in Crockenhill. Wherever possible we do try and find a new forever home for the animals but if that is not possible then they are allowed to live out their life at the rescue. Our ethos “is live and let live”, these animals have suffered prior to reaching SCAR, so should be allowed to have a happy life enjoying freedom and enrichment that SCAR has to offer. SCAR is registered with the Charity Commission. We are always grateful of any support anyone can provide the rescue with. We always need sheds, building materials, animal bedding, and feed. If you think that you could possibly help in any way please get in touch either by telephone or email. Anyone wishing to come and see what we are doing and meet the animals is more than welcome, but this is by prior arrangement only. Two of our ferrets got a new hammock bed and they don't just like it ....they love it ! They can fight like cat and dog then snuggle up as best friends which is so sweet to see. Sometimes it's hard to tell how many are cuddled up and they will lay quite happily on top of each other . Ferrets are very smelly but it doesn't seem to bother them ! They are such amusing creatures and we can spend far too long watching their antics x

Today's photos are of our tailess kittens now ready for a new adventure . They have been vet checked and are extremely playful, loving and proper little characters. Joey is looking fabulous now and is soon going to start some gentle training . He has put on weight and has lots of energy now . He has just joined another couple of horses so has lots of company now and is learning a few manners from them ! He loves people and is so comical. He always turns his back onus and it's quite disconcerting as you expect him to kick out but his absolute favorite thing is a bottom scratch and stands for ages while we oblige. He is a beautiful boy and has settled in so well with us . X

We have had an update on one of our rescued boys who had been with us a while . Felix went off a month or so ago is just loving his new life . It took a little while for him to settle but is now happily enjoying spending time outside as well as cuddled up with his new Mum. They adore each other and are both enjoying each other s company . We are so happy to get updates on our rescues and are so happy for them both ! X

Four of our newbies to the cattery are enjoying lick-e-lix as a treat alongside lots of cuddles and playtime. They have just been separated from their 9 week old kittens so, they can be neutered and live a fabulous life without fear of pregnancy. They have really had enough of being a mum and will go back into season again. The kittens are old enough to go without Mum and most are off to new homes at the weekend. Mums can now relax in peace, put on some weight and enjoy being a big kitten themselves x
