BACC provides a sanctuary to animals, and a safe space for people to benefit from therapeutic interaction with them.

The Berkshire Animal Connection Centre is registered charity (no 1191736) and a new, unique venture in the heart of Berkshire offering benefit to both animals and humans, providing a permanent place to live for otherwise unwanted animals. Sanctuary – The majority of our animals come to us unwanted, abused or abandoned. We provide them with an environment that allows them to thrive naturally under

our care for the rest of their lives. Equine Assisted Services – the calming natures of the animals at BACC can support people suffering from a range of emotional, mental, physical and social problems. Building relationships with our animals enables therapeutic healing and wellbeing, under the guidance of qualified facilitators.

Meet Vinnie.
Age: 18 years old
Height: 17.3hh
Connection Centres Resident for: 6 years
Favourite Food: Apples, Carrots and EXTRA Strong Mints!

Vinnie was rescued by the centres owner Fiona, when he was 9 years old and lame. His owners plan was to hunt him and then shoot him at end of season. He has had a lot of veterinary investigations and is now on medication for life which here at the centre we now manage, along with his physical issues and maintaining his quality of life, involving lots of cuddles and affection.

He is a gentle giant, who doesn’t realise how big he is. With the kindest heart, especially towards children and vulnerable adults. Vinnie is one of the volunteers and visitors favourites, and loves to stick his nose in their pockets for the treats!

Did you know we have around 50 volunteers on the books, with a regular rotation of 30 who consistently visit the charity to help out? 🥰

We couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers and we are very grateful to have such a wonderful group that show up and choose to look after our lovely animals.

Their duties include feeding, mucking out, grooming, repairing fences, poo picking, cleaning and filling water bowls, removing ragwort from the fields, exercising and of course any other general care the animals may need!

Meet Rocky.
Age: 15 years old
Height: 17hh
Connection Centres Resident for: 1year & 5months
Favourite Food/Habit: Loves to rest his head on any human he can!

Rocky is an ex competition horse who was loved by his owners. He is now retired at the age of 15 with multiple joint and neurological issues. Rocky has ringbone on his pasterns, a very painful condition caused by repetitive work and when he arrived at the centre he had grade 3 stomach ulcers resulting in not being able to sleep standing or lying down.
Rocky is continuing his road to recovery and still has a problem getting down, due to the arthritis and a psychological fear, typical of horses who struggle to lie down, that he won’t be able to get back up. Rocky has been treated for his issues since being at the centre and we will continue to do so regularly.

Rocky is a gentle boy who loves people. He is very curious and has adapted well to life at sanctuary.
He has become best buddies with an another ex-competition horse, Brian who also joined the sanctuary and become a very mischievous pair together!

Sorry we’ve been quiet, like the rest of the country, we have all been hiding away in the shade to keep cool, including the humans🙊 but we have also been working very hard so keep an eye out for all our exciting updates to follow soon!

What an incredible day on the course! ⛳️

Our Charity Golf Day held at De Vere Wokefield Estate was an incredible success, bringing together amazing supporters, sponsors, and players for a fantastic day of golf, fundraising, and community spirit. We can’t thank everyone for their generosity and support for the day and we are proud to announce that together we raised an outstanding £30,000 for our charity.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, and helped make the day so special. Your support will make a real difference.
