Some of you have already made it through the first week back at school, and for lots of our local schools, the madness starts again this week! 😂
So… good luck to all the parents returning to school runs, packed lunches, uniform battles and the daily “WHERE ARE YOUR SHOES?!” 🫠😂 Good luck to all the teachers/tutors heading back into the chaos, may your coffee be strong and your patience be stronger! ☕😂And to all the little ones heading back, we hope you have the BEST year! ❤️📚
But actually, this post isn't really about school at all.
It's about YOU 🥹 And specifically, our wonderful customers.
This summer has been HARD.
Like really hard 😂
The heat has meant walks cancelled, walks moved, plans changed, schedules turned upside down and a lot of trying to figure out how on earth we keep everyone safe, happy and cared for when the weather is basically trying to cook them. And whilst we've had to cancel a lot more walks than we ever have before, we've also been reminded just how lucky we are with the people who choose us to care for their dogs.
We've had walks booked because “they've missed you.” 🥹 Walks because “you're an important part of their routine.” Walks because “today is going to be too overwhelming for them with everything going on.” Walks because their humans were busy and knew that seeing us would make their day a little bit better. And sometimes, quite simply, because they wanted to see us and their friends 🐾❤️
And then there was one particular act of kindness this summer that genuinely made me emotional.
One of our customers knew there were walks their dog wouldn't actually need, but chose to pay towards them anyway, purely to help us through a difficult summer.
We hadn't asked.
We hadn't hinted.
We hadn't expected it.
They just saw that things were tough and thought, “I can help.”
And honestly… blooming heck! 🥹❤️
It wasn't the money that got me. It was the kindness behind it. That sort of kindness stays with you.
And I think that's what has got me through this summer more than anything.
You lot.
Every booking.
Every rearranged walk.
Every “just because they miss you” walk.
Every message checking in.
Every bit of understanding when the weather has thrown a spanner in the works.
Every dog who looked ridiculously pleased to see us 😂
It might not sound like much individually, but all those little things have kept us going. They've meant we're still here. Still working. And still doing the job we absolutely bloody love. ❤️
So before everyone gets swept back into normal routines, we just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your dogs. Thank you for understanding why sometimes we have to put their safety before everything else. Thank you for continuing to book us when you can and thank you for caring about us too.
Because whilst we spend a lot of our time talking about how lucky we are to have such amazing dogs to look after, the truth is we're incredibly lucky to have such amazing people behind them too. 🥹❤️
Bring on the school runs, autumn walks, muddy paws, wet dogs, questionable smells and our favourite little faces coming back into their routines.
We've missed you ❤️
