The past week has been a little different from the pet sits and pop-ins I’m used to, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the change!
This week saw us popping in to care for two piggies, some chickens, and a very handsome cat called Erwin. Of course, with it being the school holidays, I had my little helpers with me too. (Just a quick disclaimer: I always check with clients beforehand and only bring my children along if they are completely happy for them to attend.)
The week also brought a lovely surprise when a little chick appeared! We knew one of the hens had been sitting on her eggs, but I don’t think anyone expected one to hatch quite so soon.
It’s been such a lovely week meeting some different animals and witnessing a special little arrival along the way! 🐷🐔🐣🐱

The weather has been extremely hot.. too hot for dog walks.. today was cooler so I was back out with this handsome boy walking at one of our favourite places!!

Yesterday’s walk with the very handsome Uh Oh Oh… the newest member of the Cozy Crew 🧡
This lively boy has already made himself right at home — loving every bit of fuss, embracing the long walks, and keeping things interesting when I take a tumble and he thinks it’s jump on Katie time 🤣
Today started out in lovely sunshine but towards the end we found ourselves caught in a burst of torrential hailstones! But nothing fazes this gorgeous boy — he took it all in his stride 🐾
Safe to say, there’s never a dull moment with Uh Oh Oh… and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🐾 🧡

Life has definitely been life-ing lately 🐾✨
I’ll be honest… I’ve been a bit quiet on here. Between busy days, life commitments, and looking after all your lovely pets, social media slipped down the list a little.
But I’m back! 💛
I’m making a conscious effort to show up more, share what I’ve been up to, and give you a little peek behind the scenes of Cozy Creatures.
I’m also going to start posting some fun pet facts along the way 🐶🐱 (because who doesn’t love learning something new about our furry friends?!)

🧡 🐾 Little business update 🐾 🧡

Since moving house recently, some of my lovely clients are now a little further away from me than before.

After a lot of thought, I’ve decided that I’ll now be introducing a small mileage fee for clients outside of a 10-mile radius.

This hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but as a small self-employed business I do need to make sure things remain sustainable with the time and fuel spent travelling.

Starting 1st April… Mileage will be charged at 45p per mile for the distance outside of the 10-mile radius.
I’m so grateful for all of my amazing clients and the continued support of my little business – it truly means the world to me!

🎆🎇 Top tips to keep animals safe in season 🎆🎇

💬 Talk to your vet to discuss treatment options for fireworks-induced stress. This may include drugs to help dogs with noise phobias or pheromone products to apply next to your pets’ den and around the house to keep them calm.

🧸 Create a well-padded den for your pet to access ahead of fireworks season so they have a safe place to hide when fireworks start.

🧑‍💻 Ensure your pet is microchipped and your details are up to date on the database, in case it runs away from home.

🏠 Move small pets such as rabbits and guinea pigs to a quiet place indoors.

🪟 Close windows and curtains and provide background noise to help mask the fireworks.

🙂 If your pet is distressed, remain calm yourself. Restlessness or toileting in the house can be signs of stress, so don’t punish them.

🐄 Keep livestock housed at times when fireworks are likely to be set off locally and remove any firework debris from grazing pasture before letting them out.

🐴 Horses may be better turned out in a field than stabled, as in a stable they may feel enclosed and unable to move. Owners should consult a qualified equine behaviourist if they have significant concerns about their horse’s response to fireworks.

🎇 If you’re hosting a fireworks display, avoid setting them off near horses, livestock or companion animals. Dispose of any debris and remnants of fireworks responsibly.

🔥 Before lighting a bonfire, remember to check for any wild animals that may be hiding in it.

🎇 We’re coming up to that time of year.. Fireworks can be frightening for pets with loud noises, bright flashes, and all the excitement!
Here are a few tips to help them feel safe this Bonfire Night:
✨ Close curtains and play calming music
✨ Make a cosy den or safe space
✨ Keep walk times earlier in the day
✨ Avoid leaving them alone if they’re anxious
If you’ll be out celebrating, I can pop in for cuddles, comfort, and company 🧡
