As you can see Matilda loves her antler 😍😍 and so do her teeth and gums! 👅

antlers can be fantastic natural chews for dogs because they combine long-lasting chewing with some mechanical cleaning of the teeth. As a dog gnaws, the antler rubs against the teeth and can help loosen some plaque and tartar, while the chewing action also stimulates the gums. Chewing can therefore be a useful part of a dog’s dental-care routine, alongside regular tooth brushing and veterinary dental checks.

Why might Easy Antlers be a better option?

The important thing with antlers is that they are very hard. That makes them wonderfully long-lasting, but it also means they’re not suitable for every dog. Very hard chews can potentially cause tooth fractures, particularly in dogs that bite down forcefully rather than gently gnawing. Easy Antlers can be a better choice for some dogs because they make the tasty inner marrow easier to reach. That can make them a good option for:

🐾 Less experienced chewers
🐾 Gentler chewers
🐾 Dogs that lose interest in whole antlers because the marrow is difficult to reach

Easy/split antlers aren’t automatically risk-free for teeth. The antler material is still hard, so dogs that aggressively clamp down on chews may still be at risk of tooth damage. It’s sensible to supervise chewing, choose an appropriately sized chew, and remove it if it becomes small, sharp or damaged.
