CANINE COMPANIONS

A beautiful kind of magic happens quietly behind the scenes at our rescue.

As you know, we do far more than rescue and rehome dogs. We are actively fighting a quiet crisis in our local community: extreme loneliness and isolation among our elderly neighbours.

When a senior dog is displaced due to the death or illness of an owner, we know all to well that finding them a new family will be challenging due to the dogs age or age related illnesses.

Instead of seeking an unlikely adoption, we pair theses dogs with older residents in our community who are craving companionship.

The impact on their quality of life is immediate and profound. Suddenly, a lonely house is filled with joy, purpose, and unconditional love.

But this magic doesn't just happen on its own. Behind every single pairing is an incredible team carrying out home visits to ensure perfect matches, phone calls to check on vulnerable owners, paperwork to keep the scheme running, regular check-ins & of course; full practical responsibility for veterinary care, bills, grooming, and transport…

We offer this service completely FREE.

We also provide the ultimate safety net. If an elderly companion goes into the hospital or needs some respite, we step right back in to care for the dog until they are ready to return home. It is a total blanket of security for both human and hound.

Here you can see our senior boy Cricket, who is on the Canine Companions Scheme, enjoying a spa day out with our team. He enjoyed a shower and a professional nail trim followed by a trip to the pet shop to choose his own treats, before taking him back home to his loving human Nancy.

Next up, we are taking him to the vet to get a sore paw looked at.

This vital, unseen work keeps homes whole and fills lonely hearts. We do it quietly, constantly, and proudly.

But we cannot do it without you. If you believe in the positive effects this scheme gives our community, please like, share, or comment to help us keep this invisible magic alive✨

If you know anyone in our local area who you believe would benefit from joining our Canine Companions Scheme, please send us a private message to discuss the details. We’d love to hear from you.

If you take the time to look through our social media feed you will see we have an undeniable history of doing good work

💖 We reunite lost dogs

💖 We provide therapy dogs to hospitals, care homes , schools & families

💖 We look after homeless dogs, dogs in need & help them in their time of need

💖 We provide a sanctuary for unadoptable dogs, the dogs that cannot cope in a home we love them & we are there for them so they don’t lose their lives

💖 We provide dog food when the public need it

💖 We provide respite care for when an emergency happens to stop a member of the public losing their beloved pet

💖 We actively save dogs from being PTS

But, time is rapidly running out for our rescue, and we need your help today before it is too late.

Every single day the malicious smear campaign and libellous narrative being pushed by a small number of ex-volunteers and our previous landlords Dunton Vets continues unchecked.

Everyone knows that bad news travels fast & gossip gets spread quickly

It’s been truly heartbreaking seeing and hearing these horrific false accusations and it reached crisis point when Lauren nearly took her own life.

What’s been going on is pure scandalous and hateful behaviour, by a small group of people that needs to be stopped.

Already, this malevolence has affected our donation lines and the threat of permanent closure grows closer despite the irony that we have finally found and secured a permanent home for the rescue.

If we cannot raise the £12,000 needed to launch our legal action and unmask these anonymous abusers, we will be forced to shut our doors for good, leaving the vulnerable animals in our care with nowhere to go and all our good work in the community will come to an end

‼️We have reached a critical breaking point. The coordinated cyberbullying and malicious libel from this anonymous group have stripped us of virtually all our donations.

‼️We are now running on empty, and the dogs are paying the ultimate price for the lies of these trolls.

‼️We cannot survive much longer under this attack.

🙏 We wish we could spend every penny directly on animal care, but the harsh reality is that unless we legally stop this defamation, public trust will remain shattered, donations will not return, and our rescue will cease to exist.

This legal fight isn’t about pride. it is a race against time for our survival.

We for the past 10 years we have been there for our community and we need our community to be there for us

How you can help

🙏 Donate immediately. Even £5 or £10 gets us closer to launching our legal action.

🙏 Share this post instantly, urging your friends, family, and fellow animal lovers to stand with us.

🙏 Please don't wait. What is happening to us could happen to anyone, and it takes a community pulling together to stop cyberbullies from destroying a much needed dog rescue.

🙏 Stand with us today before it is too late for our dogs. STOP spreading the gossip.

⚠️ We need just £6000 more to hit our first milestone and get our solicitors moving.

Fact:

✅ Every month our overheads cost in excess of £10000 this includes insurance, rent, vital cleaning products & disinfectant, waste disposal, routine veterinary costs and food

✅ We receive LESS than £600 in monthly donations from the public

‼️ Finding this shortfall every month is a huge pressure on the rescue and Lauren

📣 We need to get the message out there that the malicious rumours MUST stop and we need the public to get behind us

We have a huge fight on hands and we need your support

We not only need funding now to ensure we can meet our basic operational costs but we need help to get our legal team moving to stop these hateful people.

Donate securely to our via Stripe here: https://buy.stripe.com/4gMeVd2NYcs3gZFa7q7IY1G

Or alternatively you can donate straight to our bank account 30-90-90 with account number 30827268

This is a David & Goliath fight. We naively believed our actions in dog rescuing, searching for lost dogs & assisting the community would have been enough.

Right now as are the underdogs and we need you, our community behind us.

AMAZING NEWS... GIGI IS HOME!

The dream team Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK Angela Tooth, Paul Tooth and our very own Lauren are thrilled to share that little Gigi is safe, sound, and back with her loving family after her wild canalside adventure!

Late last night, Lauren and Gigi’s family laid a trail mix path from the exact spot she was spooked all the way to her house, hoping she would literally follow her nose home.

Together with Drone SAR the combined team spent hours diligently mapping sightings, tracking weather forecasts for a break in the rain to fly the drone, and following up on every single lead.

Sightings suggested that the trail mix worked & pointed to housing right near Gigi’s own home!

After scaling a fence and searching through bushes, we found a frightened, exhausted, but completely safe little lady huddled under a bush!

Gigi has just been delivered straight into the arms of her emotionally drained but absolutely ecstatic family.

This happy ending is doubly poignant for us: Gigi is a Max & George Trust dog, adopted from us just over a year ago. Talk about rescue backup at its absolute best!

It is reunions like this that make the late-night searching, trudging through the pouring rain, phone calls, cooking smelly trail mix, mapping, and drone flying worth every second. It is team work at its best.

How you can help us save more dogs:
We provide this search and rescue service to our local community completely free of charge.

However, it costs money to run. Donations go towards trail mix ingredients, SD cards, replacement field cameras (which often unfortunately get stolen), and specialized batteries.

Every single penny keeps us stocked up and ready for the next call.

If you can, please support our free initiative here: https://buy.stripe.com/dR617jflU2JC1DWdSa

Many thanks to the public for reporting all of your invaluable sightings & for keeping your eyes peeled. We couldn't do this without you.

Additional thanks to supporters who came & turned up & helped. You know who you all are... thank you for being there when it matters! 🙏

A Heartbreaking Update

We are writing today with a very heavy heart to share some sad news.

As many of you know, one of the Spitz dogs we tracked and caught unexpectedly gave birth.

However, one of the puppies sadly passed away.

When this little one was born, she needed a bit of extra help to get her breathing and she was clearly the runt of the litter.

Initially, all seemed well, but sadly Floss rejected her. She was struggling to put on weight so on vet advice we began giving them both a helping hand by hand feeding the little pup.

On Saturday, Floss completely rejected her and she sadly passed away.

We are devastated to be announcing this sad news as we poured everything we had into supporting this little one.

Run free, little one. You were only with us for a moment, but you will be forever loved & never forgotten 🌈✨

HAPPY HUMP DAY from the king of the field!

Our biggest boy, Yogi, is out here living his best life. There is nothing better than seeing him soaking up the morning sunshine, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying the great outdoors.

Bred to guard flocks from wolves and bears in the mountains, these majestic giants absolutely love finding a vantage point just to sit and watch the world go by.

It looks like he is just relaxing, but he is actually doing his favorite job: surveying his kingdom and making sure the local squirrels behave!

Does your dog have a favorite "lookout post" at home?

Wishing everyone a fantastic Wednesday as we cruise over the hump! 🐾🌾

Did you grow up with a dog ?

There’s a lot that happens at The Max & George Trust behind the scenes that we don’t often share, mostly because we are just so busy and so focused on doing what matters. From looking after the dogs on a day to day basis, vet appts and so forth

But there is one thing we do that we are really proud of and that’s the work we do with the schools and children with the dogs.

Dogs are incredibly therapeutic and give us so much love. No matter how bad things are at times, there is nothing more comforting than the unconditional love of a dog.

In Dec 2023 we took in 12 maltese dogs. 3 of them were puppies & the vet estimated them at the time to be 10 days old (give or take)

We kept one of the dogs & one of the puppies & trained them to become therapy dogs. MeMe & Gracie are not just living a great life in foster but they regularly go out and about to visit the elderly. They also come back to the rescue to give the kids and disabled children some much needed cuddles.

One of these beautiful puppies went to live with 2 small children & is growing up with them.

Just like we have our Canine Companion program for the elderly matching elderly / older pups is our Puppy Power Program for those children who would benefit from having a pet in their lives

Just like our Canine Companion program we fund the Puppy Power Program because

🐾 A puppy offers a nonjudgmental friend that kids can confide in, which helps soothe anxiety and reduces feelings of loneliness.

🐾 Studies show petting a dog raises levels of calming hormones, helping children relax after a long school day.

🐾 As stated by PDSA, the bond a child develops with a puppy or 4 legged friend helps kids navigate their emotions.

🐾 A pet helps teach responsibility

Studies show that families with dogs average more daily exercise, which helps fights screen time and getting out and about more of course promotes cardiovascular health & even cognitive development as well as building confidence.

In essence, a puppy is great for a child

And that’s EXACTLY what happened with one lucky family whose two small children got their own vet special puppy.

This lucky pup has the best life & is so loved and we like to think has made a difference to these children’s life.

Giving a puppy to a family with children is part of our mission to give back to our community and with one of the Spitz dogs we recently caught giving birth unexpectedly we are on the look out for another a family that are desperate for the love of a dog.

Applications for that special family wanting nothing more than a puppy to make a dream come true for their child will open shortly. Conditions & criteria apply.

If you know of a child or children that deserve the chance of having their own puppy to nurture and love and grow with .. please tag their parent in the comments below.

We have also provided therapy dogs for schools, so perhaps you think a school may benefit from one of these special dogs then please get in touch

Below is gorgeous Izzy making a difference to two special little girls lives

And MeMe & Gracie visiting the patients
in hospital, bringing a little cheer, comfort & happiness.

Huge thank you to our amazing volunteers for helping us make this happen
