🌞 GOOD MORNING EVERYONE 🌞

What a week we’re going to have! ☀️🥵

Please don’t forget we have REDUCED our opening hours for today, Wednesday and Thursday due to extreme temperatures meaning our unit is going to be like a sauna and there’s a high chance staff could melt 🫠😅

Not only this but we need to do what’s best for our freezers, the hotter the unit the more hardworking the freezers are which can cause them to break! When shopping with us this week please make sure all freezer lids are closed properly.

🐾 Signs of Heatstroke in Dogs 🐾

Please keep an eye out for:

🚨 Excessive panting
🚨 Thick, sticky drool
🚨 Bright red gums or tongue
🚨 Lethargy or weakness
🚨 Vomiting or diarrhoea
🚨 Wobbling or struggling to stand
🚨 Collapse or seizures

If you suspect heatstroke:

❄️ Move your dog somewhere cool immediately
❄️ Use cool (not ice-cold) water on paws, belly and underarms
❄️ Offer small amounts of water
❄️ Contact your vet immediately

💡 “But my dog needs a walk!”

Honestly, for a few days, they really don’t.

Mental stimulation can be far more tiring than a walk and much safer during this heatwave:

🧠 Frozen enrichment bowls
🧠 Licki mats with natural yoghurt, bone broth or raw food
🧠 Snuffle mats and scent games around the house
🧠 Scatter feeding in the garden
🧠 Frozen bone broth treats
🧠 Training sessions and trick work indoors
🧠 Stuffed Kongs and enrichment toys

Next week’s heatwave ☀️

After a long discussion we have decided to reduce our shop opening hours next week ONLY. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday are affected due to extreme heat.

As you know our unit is like a greenhouse, it’s going to be like a sauna. We have to put staff first and think about our freezers. Not only does the heat make the freezer work harder but opening/closing the lids does not help. We have already had 3 freezers break during our last heatwave 🥲

Sorry for any inconvenience, we’re just trying to be sensible.

We have someone coming to fix a freezer first thing tomorrow morning so I apologise if there’s any disruption.

Why not pop along to the Fun Dog Show this Sunday at Wigginton Manor Farm?

One of our regular customers will be there raising money for Dog A.I.D, a charity that provides training to help turn pet dogs into ADUK-accredited assistance dogs.

There will be lots of fantastic raffle prizes up for grabs, including:
🐶 A hamper of natural dog treats
🐶 A very well-behaved (toy!) assistance dog
🐶 And many more great prizes. You may even recognise some of the prizes donated by Charlie & Co.

It's the perfect opportunity to treat your dog to some of our tasty snacks while supporting a fantastic cause.
