On Thursday 10th September my daughter is getting her braces fitted at 8.30. Can I ask anyone who can/would like to change days or not need a walk that day to let me know. However, I will still be walking I will just be delayed. I’m not sure by how long so if you are ok to play by ear and not bothered what time I come that is totally fine and I will be there as soon as I can. I will let you know on the day when she is done and when I am back. There will be a knock on effect though for each walk. Thank you for understanding 🥰 🐶 🐾

On today’s mooch……
George, Klein and Luna were first out, they walked the track behind Tunstall Hill. George completely ignored Klein and was looking through him like he didn’t exist 😜 Klein wasn’t bothered he trotted on sniffing all of the undergrowth and saying hello to the dogs walking past. They did come together for a treat though - of course!
Next Oscar, Izzy, Klein, Fudge, Betty and Luna went to the beach. Emily came out with us so Betty and Fudge stuck with her, loving the extra attention. Klein and Oscar had a good zoom around whilst Izzy had a plodge in the sea. Izzy also liked to have a good dig, the other dogs crowded round in excitement wondering what she would uncover. Unfortunately for them it was nothing 😂😂
Lastly Klein, Oscar, Sonny and Luna went back to the beach. It was Sonny’s first time meeting these two friends. He absolutely adored Klein and the two of them had a wild time, running rings around me! They loved to bop each other as they were playing, Sonny wasn’t too confident scaling the rocks so Klein got a bit of a rest when he went on them! Oscar stuck with Emily again and played with seaweed, he loved pinching it and running away to get her to chase him.

On today’s mooch……
Amber, Max and Luna had a walk in the woods. Max was trying to chew branches off the trees, with little success 😜 Amber was enjoying running full belt up and down the banks, making my heart drop into my stomach because she has no brakes!! They both enjoyed scattering some pheasants by accident, they were hiding in a bush and all flew out as these two rampaged passed. They got very excited and were jumping up and down, I had to distract them with treats!
Next Nina, Henry, Skye, Jess, Chip, Klein and Luna went to the beach. Jess got the zoomies and chased everyone 😂 Klein and Henry loved chasing behind her and trying to catch her. Nina like the lunge move better, just waiting till they passed and they giving them a bop with her paw 🐾 Skye and Chip were not in the mood for running today, they found some dead crabs to wee on and have a good sniff - thankfully they didn’t roll!
Lastly Teddy, Kala, Rex and both Lunas had a walk along the track. Rex found a cut branch and picked it up, it was nearly bigger than him! Still he insisted on carrying it for as long as he could 😝 Kala was trying to be centre of attention as Emily was with us today, each time she stroked another dog she was wedging herself in between her hand and them 😂 Luna and Teddy loved rummaging under the hedgerows - I think Luna could hear the birds but Teddy could smell something that made him drool 🤤

On today’s mooch……
George, Max and Luna had a walk along the track from Ryhope to Seaton. Max enjoyed saying hello to the dogs along the way, George avoided them 😜 People were picking blackberries and the dogs were intrigued! We also walked past the farm and they enjoyed watching the horses.
Next Chip, Fudge, Klein, Teddy and Luna were happy to have Izzy back after the summer break. She was very happy to be back too! We went to the beach as Fudge missed out last week when we went. It was a good choice, I think it’s everyone’s favourite! Teddy found something dead to roll on as usual 🤢 so he had to be caught and put on lead until he forgot about it! Klein was running wild and playing with everyone, especially Chip, who only likes to play at the beach 😂 Izzy ran straight to a rock pool and submerged herself and then spent most of her time ferociously digging! Fudge was running along with everyone but didn’t want to play, he loved treat stop time!
Lastly Poppy, Ralph and Luna went to the beach. Poppy loved it here as there was no traffic noise and she could just chill out and enjoy her walk. Ralph was playing with Luna, they were pouncing at each other and then zooming in a circle 😜 She also tried to show him how to dig!

On today’s mooch…..
Amber, Max, George and Luna went to the field. We had to change route as there was clouds of wasps 🐝 Amber made sure she rolled on the new grass and George copied! Max was trying to inhale a dead rabbit 🤢 They were all so excited to be out after missing one day with it being bank holiday 😂
Next Rex, Chip, Klein and Luna walked along the riverside. We explored the path going the opposite way to where we usually walk. Chip did not want to go near the mini waterfall when he could hear the water. They posed for treats on the bridges. They loved exploring the new smells.
Lastly Kala and Luna explored a new wooded area. Kala was very good at log hurdles! She was on a mission today to get to everything before Luna. We met a little boy exploring the woods with his Dad and Kala made a new friend! She got lots of strokes and he showed her the sticks he had found!

Just a bit of info since we encountered a rabbit on our walks last week that may of had myxomatosis

🐰⚠️ MYXOMATOSIS AWARENESS – PLEASE READ & SHARE ⚠️🐰

We’ve recently had an increase in people bringing rabbits showing possible signs of myxomatosis into our centre, as well as calls from people who have found sick wild rabbits and aren’t sure what to do.
We completely understand that you’re trying to help ❤️ — but bringing a potentially infected rabbit into a rescue can put other rabbits at serious risk.

📖 A LITTLE HISTORY
Myxomatosis was actually deliberately introduced by humans to control wild rabbit populations. The virus originated in South America and was introduced to Australia in 1950 and France in 1952. It reached Britain in 1953, causing a devastating decline in wild rabbits.
Although wild rabbits have since developed greater resistance, myxomatosis has never disappeared and remains a serious and potentially fatal disease today. 💔

🦠 WHAT IS MYXOMATOSIS?
Myxomatosis is a highly infectious viral disease in rabbits. It can spread through biting insects such as fleas and mosquitoes, direct contact and contaminated hands, clothing, footwear and equipment.
People cannot catch myxomatosis, but we can accidentally carry contamination between rabbits.

🚨 SIGNS CAN INCLUDE:

• Swollen, red or crusty eyes

• Swelling around the eyes, face, ears or ge****ls

• Discharge from the eyes or nose

• Lethargy or weakness

• Loss of appetite

• Difficulty breathing

• A rabbit that is extremely unwell or struggling to move

💔 THERE IS NO SPECIFIC CURE
Myxomatosis can be extremely painful and distressing. A vet can assess the rabbit and provide treatment and pain relief where appropriate. Sadly, in severe cases, euthanasia may be recommended to prevent suffering.

🐇 FOUND A WILD RABBIT WITH POSSIBLE MYXOMATOSIS?

❌ PLEASE DO NOT BRING IT INTO A RESCUE CENTRE.

➡️ Contact a local veterinary practice and explain that you have found a wild rabbit showing possible signs of myxomatosis.

➡️ Do not take the rabbit into the waiting room.

➡️ Let the vet know you are outside and follow their instructions.
If you have pet rabbits at home, tell the vet — this is particularly important.

🧼 ALREADY HANDLED THE RABBIT?
Don’t panic, but take precautions before going near your own rabbits:
🧼 Wash your hands thoroughly.

👕 Change clothing that may have come into contact with the rabbit.

👟 Remove potentially contaminated footwear.

🧹 Thoroughly clean and disinfect carriers, towels and equipment.

🐰 Keep the rabbit completely away from your own rabbits and their food, hay and belongings.

💉 PROTECT YOUR OWN RABBITS
Vaccination is one of the most important ways to protect rabbits against myxomatosis — including indoor rabbits, who are not completely protected from biting insects.
Regular flea prevention, good hygiene and limiting contact with wild rabbits can also help reduce the risk.

❤️ PLEASE SHARE
We know finding a sick wild rabbit is upsetting, and we’re so grateful to everyone who wants to help.
But if you suspect myxomatosis, a vet should be your first point of contact — not a rescue centre.
By following this simple step, you can help protect the rabbit you’ve found, your own rabbits and the many vulnerable rabbits cared for by rescues. 🐰❤️
📢 Please share — the more people who know what to do, the safer our rabbits will be.

On today’s mooch……
George and Luna were first out. They walked on the track behind Tunstall Hill. George loved exploring through the woods. He was a bit of a scaredy car and wouldn’t jump over the fallen tree, he ran the long way round instead!
Next Chip, Klein, Oscar and Luna went to the beach. We had the whole place to ourselves so they got a good run off lead. Klein was so excited, he was running from each of his friends and bouncing into them to try and get them to play. Chip had a run and play with him but emergency stopped if they got to some water! Oscar wasn’t in the mood to play today, he was quite hot. I took him to the rock pools so he could cool his little paws.

On today’s mooch…..
Max, Amber, George and Luna were first out. Max was on a sniffing mission and as you can see by the photos, he was trailing behind in his own world! Amber was quite relieved she even got to roll without being bounced on 😜 George was rummaging at the blackberries again and Amber ate the grass next to them because she had no idea what he was doing but she didn’t want to miss out!
Next Nina, Henry, Skye, Jess, Chip, Klein and Luna went to the field. They were very sensible today which I found quite worrying. That was until I found out why…… there was a dead rabbit and they were all on the trail to find it 🤢 I had to be very quick to catch the little stinkers before they rolled in it and tried to eat the bits the birds had pecked into mouth sized pieces - yak!!
Lastly Kala, Teddy and both Lunas had a walk along the cliff tops. Kala jumped on her posing rock and I tried to get the group to do it, Luna was quite good but as usual little bimbo Teddy had no idea what was required 😂😂 They all still got a treat for the effort! They loved trotting along next to each other, it was very cute to see how they have bonded 🥰
