Training this morning was cut short for Tweed after he picked up a cut paw following just two retrieves, so we decided to give Bert a chance to join in with a bigger group.

I was really pleased with how he handled it. He stayed calm and settled while the other dogs were working β€” he even laid down and relaxed! πŸ‘

We had some marks off the launchers at distances further than Bert has ever experienced before, and he really surprised me with just how far he was able to mark.

We also tackled some tricky blinds. There was a little bit of monkey see, monkey do at times, but that's all part of his learning at this stage!

Most importantly, Bert is definitely growing in confidence, and it's great to see him starting to take on new challenges.

Really looking forward to progressing him further with his training. 🐾

Our training group had our last day of training on ground that we have been fortunate enough to use for many years.

It was quite sad knowing that this is the end of an era, but we have so many fantastic memories to take away from all the training days, dogs and friendships made there. 🐾

Now it's onwards and upwards as we start looking for a new training ground and the next chapter.

Teamwork is what makes it all work. πŸ’ͺ🐾

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey and helped make so many great memories. πŸ‘

Saturday was puppy and novice class day! 🐾

The puppies started learning the stop whistle, beginning on the lead to build their understanding before progressing further. The handlers were also shown how to continue and develop the exercise at home, so let's see the results when we meet again in two weeks' time! πŸ€žπŸ‘

The novice group worked on getting their dogs to trust the direction they were being sent in, understanding that where the handler pointed was where the dummy was, while learning to ignore any distractions along the way.

Everyone has been given some homework to help push their training forward, and again, it will be great to see the progress in two weeks' time.

Well done everyone β€” keep up the homework! πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ’ͺ

Last of the evening training sessions complete!

The nights are pulling in far too quickly now! πŸŒ…

We were back on the stubble, as the beet had been sprayed, and set up some testing retrieves with plenty of different barriers for the dogs to contend with, including tracks, maize cover, white grass and fat hen.

Some great work from the dogs and handlers, with plenty to think about and work through.

Well done everyone! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Another lovely morning out training with Rachel Booth and Clare Webb on the stubble, with a strong breeze making things a little more challenging. πŸŒΎπŸ’¨πŸΎ

We worked on getting these young dogs to take on the wind and barriers, building their confidence to keep a straight line whatever is in their way.

Fantastic work from both dogs today β€” really pleased with how they handled the challenges. πŸ‘

And a little bonus… Bert came along as well, which was great for him to work around some different dogs and gain a bit more experience. πŸ˜πŸ‘

Training my own dogs with a group of friends.

Nice black Lab Jax working in a big stubble field today, with a very heavy wind making the retrieves much more challenging. We set up a variety of retrieves to test them from different angles and really make them work with the wind.

Overall, the dogs were pretty good, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement β€” that’s what the training is all about! πŸ‘

Working with the wind is a great way to test a dog's ability to hold its line and stay focused rather than simply relying on scent.
