SWIMMER OF THE WEEK🐾💙

This week the swimmer of the week is… Bailey!🤩 Bailey finds the world quite overwhelming so getting a photo with his rosette wasn’t quite possible. Instead we captured him having a lovely cuddle with Meg, and if there’s one thing Bailey absolutely LOVES, it’s a cuddle! 🥰

Bailey came to us following lameness in his right forelimb, and what a journey he has been on. He has come on leaps and bounds, quite literally! 🌟 His confidence has grown so much, and he is now absolutely acing his hydrotherapy sessions.

When Bailey first started, he was only able to manage very short walks and wasn’t able to have any time off lead due to his injury. Thanks to the dedication of his wonderful mum, alongside regular hydrotherapy sessions and clinical massage with the wonderful Fiona, Bailey is now back to living life to the fullest.🌟

We are delighted to share that he has even returned to agility, the sport he loves most! 🐾💙 We are so incredibly proud of you, Bailey, and it makes us so happy to see you back doing what you love. Keep up the amazing work! 🏅✨

🐾 June - Weight Awareness Month 🐾

This month at Aqua Paws, we're focusing on something we're incredibly passionate about - weight management.

Maintaining a healthy weight is one of the most important things we can do for our dogs. Throughout June, we'll be sharing information to help raise awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy weight. We'd love it if you could follow along, engage with our posts and share them to help spread the message 💌

Don't forget, we also offer fun & fitness swims, which can be a fantastic way to support weight loss, improve fitness and keep your dog active in a safe, low impact environment.

For some handy resources on weight management and canine arthritis, take a look at the Canine Arthritis Management (CAM) website: https://caninearthritis.co.uk/managing-arthritis/weight-management/

As always, we're always here for further support 🧡

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK 🐾💙

This week’s swimmer of the week is the lovely Monty! 🐾

Monty has been swimming with us for most of his life and every visit he brings so much joy, energy and good vibes to the pool! He originally came to us following surgery on one of his front legs and since then he has made incredible progress.

We are so proud of how far he has come, he’d now even dive bomb into the pool if we let him! 💙

Well done, Monty! Keep up the amazing work ⭐

☀️ Happy Bank Holiday everyone! We hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine and that your lovely dogs are keeping cool in this hot weather 🐶💦

As you may have seen, tomorrow’s temperatures are set to reach highs of 34°C. Because of this, we’ve made the decision to cancel tomorrow afternoon and evening sessions. Those still attending we ask you not to arrive too early to avoid dogs waiting in cars.

While the water itself may help keep the dogs cool, asking them to exercise, raise their heart rates, and then head back out into such extreme heat just doesn’t sit right with us. Some dogs’ conditions can worsen in hot weather and, with how excited all the dogs get coming to see us, we simply don’t feel the risk is worth taking tomorrow.

We’re really sorry for any inconvenience, but the dogs will ALWAYS come first ❤️

We’ve already contacted everyone affected and have offered alternative appointments later in the week when temperatures are due to be cooler. We know you’ll all understand and support us in putting the dogs’ safety first 🐾

Looking ahead through the summer, we’ll also be offering extra early morning appointments to help accommodate during the hotter days. If you’re an early bird like us, let us know and we can get you booked into those slots! 🌅🐕

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK🐾💙

This week the swimmer of the week is…Hugo!🤩 Hugo has been attending regular hydrotherapy sessions to help manage his osteoarthritis, and he truly is a superstar in the pool! 💦🐾

Due to how advanced his osteoarthritis is, Hugo finds walking quite difficult. However, once he’s in our hydro pool, he absolutely excels, it’s clear just how much he loves swimming! Being in the water gives Hugo the chance to exercise comfortably without placing extra strain on his joints, which is so important for his mobility and wellbeing.

Hugo also suffers from Cushing’s disease, a condition where the adrenal gland overproduces cortisol. This can make managing his weight a little more challenging, so having time in the pool to burn off some calories in a safe and enjoyable way is incredibly beneficial for him. 🩵

Hugo, you are an absolute delight to have here at Aqua Paws, and we are so happy to see how much you benefit from your hydrotherapy sessions. Keep up the amazing work, superstar! ⭐🐶

☀️ As the weather brightens up, we’ve noticed lots of fun swim pools opening their doors and that’s lovely to see! But please don’t forget about your local hydrotherapy specialists ☀️

We are a CHA (Canine Hydrotherapy Association) registered hydrotherapy centre, dedicated to providing safe, professional and effective care for your dogs 💙

✔️ Fully qualified hydrotherapists
✔️ First aid trained
✔️ Minimum of 25 hours CPD completed every year

Your dog’s safety and wellbeing is always our top priority:
💧 Our water is tested twice daily (and three times on busy days!)
🧪 Monthly samples are sent to a lab to ensure the highest standards
🌡️ Our pool and underwater treadmill are heated between 28 - 30°C

Did you know? Water temperature is incredibly important, anything lower can cause cramping, particularly for dogs suffering with arthritis. It’s not just about swimming, it’s about safe, therapeutic care.

At Aqua Paws, every dog is treated as the special individual they are 💙 We specialise in supporting dogs with health conditions such as arthritis, while also offering fun and fitness swims for water loving pups who simply enjoy being in the water!

While the hydrotherapy industry is sadly unregulated, we believe in educating and advocating for safe swimming practices. Seeing dogs with medical needs in unqualified settings can sometimes do more harm than good and that’s something we’re passionate about changing.

If you think your dog could benefit from hydrotherapy, whether for rehabilitation or fun and fitness, we’re here to help. Feel free to get in touch to chat about how we can support your dog 💙

Meet very sweet Honey 🧡🍯

Honey comes to us for support with her hind limbs and when she first started she was very unsure about the water. Now she gives us a little happy dance every time she hears the treadmill buttons getting ready to start, which never fails to make us and her lovely family laugh 🐾

We are so proud of you Honey, you are an absolute joy to spend time with 🧡
