🐾 FOLLOW UP: GRASS SEED PROTECTION 🐾

Following on from my post about grass seeds, I’ve been looking into where you can find those mesh head and face covers I mentioned. I know it can be hard to know where to start looking, so I wanted to share what I’ve found to point you in the right direction.

I’ve seen them on Amazon — if you search terms like dog mesh snood, grass seed protection, or dog ear and eye cover, you’ll find a few different styles and sizes to have a look through.

I’ve popped some photos below so you can see the kind of thing I mean — that way you know what to look for, and it’s down to you if you want to get one and what works best for your dog.

As always, we’re working together on this — I’ll keep checking ears and coats on our walks, and if we’re both keeping an eye out, we can keep them safe and comfortable.

🐾 Grass Seed Season — Please Read, It Matters

As a dog walker, I want to be really open with you: there is only so much I can do. While your dog is with me, their safety is my responsibility — I check ears, paws, bellies, armpits on every walk — but seeds are microscopic, they’re absolutely everywhere right now, and they can lodge deep where I can’t see.

And this isn’t just when they’re out on a walk with me — grass seeds are in your garden, your lawn, the fields, verges, everywhere. They can pick one up rolling around in your own back garden just as easily as out on a walk.

It’s been so dry then rain then dry again — the seeds are loose, sharp, and absolutely everywhere right now.

📌 What we ALL need to do:
✅ I check them thoroughly on every walk — but please do your own check at home too, after garden time, after walks, whenever they’ve been out
✅ Keep the fur around the ear opening tidy — seeds catch in long hair and hide there. You don’t need to shave it bare — that hair is there to help filter things out — just tidy it so nothing gets tangled and hidden
🚫 NEVER use cotton buds down the ear canal — you will push seeds deeper, past the protective hair, and that’s when the real trouble starts
✅ Head shaking, scratching, holding an ear to the side, rubbing their face on the ground? Don’t wait — vet straight away. Seeds can work their way in deep and cause infection long before you can see them

Bottom line — let’s work together! Teamwork really does make the dream work 💛 If you notice anything, just say. If I notice anything, I’ll tell you. We’re all on the same side here — just looking out for them. Open conversation, no questions, no judgement — whatever you see, whatever you’re unsure about, just reach out. 🐾 My Services:

🐾 Dog Walking: I am a sole dog walker, providing one-to-one walks, or walking dogs from the same household, on lead only. There are no pack or group walks, so your dog receives focused, calm, personal attention.
• 30 minutes: £14
• 1 hour: £26

🐾 30-Minute Pop-In: Spend half an hour feeding, watering, and spending quality time with your pets.
• £12 + any travel beyond a 5-mile radius

🐾 Extra Hours / Additional Time:
Any time outside standard booking windows, or additional coverage required, is charged at:
• First hour: £20.00
• Each subsequent hour: £13.00
• Flat rate options may be agreed for longer periods — quoted individually

🐾 Overnight Sitting: Calm, overnight care for dogs in your home.
• Overnight Sitting — 1 dog: £60
✅ Covers 6pm to 7am ONLY (13 hours)
✅ Includes: evening feed, breakfast feed, 2 walks
✅ Any time outside 6pm–7am is charged separately
✅ Additional animal: +£8.00 flat rate — covers all care, feeding and attention
✅ All bookings require a deposit to secure your slot

🐾 Booking & Payment (Important)

DEPOSIT TO CONFIRM BOOKING
A deposit of 20% of the total booking cost must be paid:
• Within 24 hours of booking confirmation for existing clients, or
• Within 24 hours of booking confirmation after a completed meet & greet for potential new clients.
Until a deposit is received, the dates remain open to other potential bookings.

REMAINING BALANCE
The remaining balance is due on the first day of the sit and NOT BEFORE.

ANY OVERNIGHT BOOKING
All overnight bookings require a 20% deposit to secure your dates, including:
• One night or multiple nights, and
• One or multiple dogs.

CLIENT CANCELLATION POLICY
• If a client cancels less than 20 days before the booking: no refund of deposit paid.
• If a client cancels 20 days or more before the booking: 50% of deposit paid will be refunded.

BUSINESS OWNER CANCELLATION POLICY
If the business owner (sitter) cancels your booking for any reason, you will receive a full refund of your deposit.

🐾 Travel & Mileage:
No fee for up to a 5-mile radius. Beyond that, 40p per mile will be added to the price.

🐾 Weekends & Bank Holidays:
Dog walking and 30-minute pop-ins after 5:00pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and overnight stays falling on weekends or bank holidays are charged at time and a half. Long sits are not affected, as the full period already includes weekends.

I also happily care for small animals — cats, rabbits, and similar.

At Soul Paws, every visit is a chance to pause, breathe, and let your animals lead the way. Your pets are held in calm presence, and you can rest knowing they are loved and cared for.
