The prep is half the work! It’s essential to find a shampoo that works well for dogs and the groomers. We want products that clean the coats really well whilst being gentle and natural. Protecting the dogs, our hands and the environment so I’m always looking for something that does all of these. I’ve found a new brand to try in the salon. Let me know what you think.

A lovely haircut is only part of the story. How your dog feels along the way matters too.

Grooming can ask a lot of a dog. For me, care means listening to what they’re communicating, adapting my approach and working at a pace they can manage.

I’m adding behaviourist training to my skill set as I take my business in a more dog-led direction—building on the care I give, with more understanding behind it.

Their wellbeing at the heart of every groom. 💗

Does your dog need a good deshed?
Deshedding isn’t just for the big, super-fluffy breeds! If your dog has an undercoat, they can benefit from a regular deshed — big or small, long-haired or short-haired.
You know the signs…
> Those balls of fluff floating around the house
> Stroking your dog and coming away with a handful of floof
> Heavy, compacted fur that bunches and tangles, especially around the legs and bum
A good deshed can make such a difference!
Removing excess and compacted undercoat is really important for maintaining a healthy skin and coat. It allows air to flow properly through the coat, helping the skin breathe and leaving your dog feeling much more comfortable.
For longer-coated dogs, regular deshedding can also help prevent the undercoat from becoming compacted and matted. And don’t forget the short-haired dogs — they can shed an incredible amount and benefit just as much!
After a proper deshed, there’s nothing better than seeing that clean, healthy coat swaying in the wind instead of all that loose floof ending up around your house.

I’m excited to introduce our new booking system!
From now on, you’ll be able to see the services available, choose whether you’d like to book with Maddie or me, and find an appointment that suits you — all in one place.
No more back-and-forth messages trying to find a suitable appointment!

✂️ UPDATED PRICES FROM 1ST OCTOBER
As part of this next step for In the Dog House, my grooming prices will be increasing from 1st October.
This is a change I’ve thought carefully about and reflects the time, experience, expertise and care that goes into every groom, as well as the continued investment in my business. ❤️
I’m so incredibly grateful for every person who has trusted me with their dogs over the years. Your support has helped me and In the Dog House grow, and I’m really excited about what the future looks like!
And with Maddie joining us, there’s now another option too!
Maddie will be offering Junior Groomer appointments at a lower introductory price, while working under my mentorship and continuing to develop her skills and experience.
So whether you’d like to book with me or Maddie, there’s now more choice than ever! 🐾💕
