Well done Caroline and Rico for achieving their Beginner’s Pet Gun Dog Certificate. They have both done so well and worked hard to achieve this. He has demonstrated steadiness with distractions, walking to heel, sit on the whistle, stay, recall, and a memory retrieve and marked retrieve, including a thrown marked retrieve. He is a lovely, enthusiastic young Cocker who lives to work. Onward and upwards! 👏🥰

Lovely training session this Monday morning with our social group. Good to be back guys. Some great steadiness and progress seen this week.

Also, the Tuesday Beginner’s class went well today and it was lovely to welcome Helen and Toby. Again there was great progress seen in calmness and retrieving.

New Beginner Pet Gun Dog courses available:

Wednesday Evenings 7 pm until 8.30 pm. 2 places available.

Saturday Morning 9 am - 10.30 am to commence on Saturday 27th June.

These 8 week courses are designed for Gundog and Gundog crossbreeds. They focus on

Read this post this morning, the words contained in it are so important for dog trainers at every level. Dogs are opportunistic by nature so if they can get away with something they will. They are not being naughty they are following their inherent instinct. The same applies if we are going for a walk or completing a formal training session. In every interaction with our dogs, from the time they come home as 8 week old pups until the time they leave us, they are learning. Make each interaction count- if you want a well behaved dog - train it - with kindness and positivity, not permissiveness.

‘To the habit of 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Because here's the reality: Every single training session is a chance to build good habits - or reinforce bad habits.

When you let your dog creep on the line "just this once" because you're tired?
𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝.

When you blow a whistle and watch your dog loop 8 yards to the right?
𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝.

When your dog makes noise and you send them anyway?
𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝.

Your dog doesn't know it's "just training." They're learning what you'll accept. They're building habits - good or bad - based on what you do consistently.

So ask yourself: What habits am I building right now? What am I practicing when nobody's watching
Train like it matters. Because it does.
