🐾 How a Dog Hears Their World 👂

A dog's hearing is incredibly sensitive and plays a vital role in how they experience their environment.

🔊 Dogs can hear frequencies up to around 45,000–65,000 Hz, while humans typically hear up to 20,000 Hz.

👂 They can detect sounds from up to four times further away than we can, depending on the sound and conditions.

🎯 Their mobile ears help them pinpoint exactly where a sound is coming from, even if it's behind them.

⚠️ This means that everyday sounds we barely notice—traffic, fireworks, lawnmowers, alarms, construction work, or raised voices—can be much louder and more overwhelming for our dogs.

💚 Understanding how dogs hear helps us become more compassionate guardians. Giving them quiet spaces, allowing them to move away from loud noises, and recognising when they may be feeling overwhelmed can make a huge difference to their wellbeing.

Their world isn't just seen differently… it's heard differently too.

Some of you may be new to our page and our services so thought we would give you some information about Doggy Education and Training. Our customers are offered a high quality Service as not only are they receiving visits from a Dog Trainer for classes and 1-2-1 home visits but Gabrielle is also a Certified Canine Behaviourist.

She first became involved with dog training after having her own dog Ben for 10 yrs and learning all about positive reinforcement. Roll on ten years later and she became involved as the Regional Co-ordinatior for Doggone Safe for the UK & Ireland after meeting Victoria Stilwell. Gabrielle has been into a number of Schools and Community groups to teach kids how to be safe around dogs by teaching them how dogs communicate. She then undertook the Family Paws course which specialises in working with expectant couples and their dogs and also toddlers and dogs. Following on from this we then began attending Training and Behaviour Conferences.

Gabrielle is a Certified Canine Behaviourist and a Full Member with International Canine Behaviourists (ICB).She is also educated to degree level and has undertaken numerous courses with leading Trainers and Behaviourists in their field such as: Chirag Patel, Sarah Fisher, Dr Amber Batson, Dr Ian Dunbar, Victoria Stilwell, Jane Arden, Alexandra Horowitz, Clive Wynne, Michael Shikashio, Sarah Heath, Joshua Leeds, Andrew Hale, Lisa Waggoner, Irith Bloom, Lisa Radosta, Ádám Miklósi and Claudia Fugazza to name a few. Alongside attending courses Gabrielle also constantly updates her knowledge by reading up to date research and training methods. It was important in coming into the field of Dog Training and Behaviour that Gabrielle educated herself to as high a level as possible.

We offer person and dog centred training using positive reinforcement and reward based training methods. We do not advocate the use of any punitive methods of training or equipment. We specialise in behaviour work as this whole area brings in all my qualifications and experience of both human behaviour and canine behaviour. We offer a non judgemental service and we are open and honest with all our clients. We have a vast experience of working with people with disabilities, ASD and mental health issues and we can adjust our training accordingly.
