(33). 💷 Cost of Living & Bunny Care 🐰

As we all know the cost of living has gone up massively & this just keeps rising, also with Christmas adding to that cost!

I know we're all in different financial situation's but i've made some alternative choices for you, if you should need.

Topics are Health, Food, Toys & Grooming.
Always think prevention better than cure in all situations (plus it's cheaper).

🌿 HEALTH:
I 100% reccomend you purchase Apple C***r Vinegar 'the mother'.
Its full of vitamins & minerals.
Simply add a sq**rt or two, to drinking water to help aid healthy digestion, good skin condition, tip top health, shiny coats, it will dilute those urine smells & even help deter fleas & mites.
You can also use it diluted, to spray directly onto bunny's coat as a flea/mite spray.
Readily available online, Holland & Barret etc & it will last you ages.

💉 Vaccination is your best way to protect against rabbit diseases such as Myximotosis & Rvhd 1&2.
These can be costly, but i do reccomend you shop around as prices vary from practice to practice.
It may be worth travelling to another town to save yourself £30.
I reccomend independent practices like;
Needham Market Veterinary Centre
Bury St Edmunds Veterinary Centre
Nightingale Vets Ip6.
for your yearly vaccininstions & much more.

FOOD:
🐰 HAY/ DRIED GRASS-
Unlimited hay & dried grass is the most important & most needed part of your rabbit's diet above all else.

If you do need to choose between hay/grass or pellet feed, please choose the hay/dried grass option.

Hay is an absolute must to keeping a rabbit's gut moving & preventing food blockages.
It will also keep teeth trim (as they continuously grow) & prevent dental issues & vetinary care.

I get alot of customers say my rabbit won't eat hay/grass..
Normally over feedings pellet is the issue.
The second is too much fresh foods.
Their are now so many different brands it can become over whelming & I hope our hay post helped explain the different types available.

WHAT WE DO:
Our bunnies recieve a small scoop 5days a week..on Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri & Saturday.
Don't get me wrong all hay is great.. however i don't rate soft cut hay as much, because it doesn't work as well at keeping your bun's teeth as trim or aid their gut digestion so well.
If your rabbit is hungry, it will eat it!

Every Wednesday, we do:
'Hay & Dried Grass Only Day'
(We use dog bowls)
Hay in racks, small bit in bowl, topped up with dried grass.
Placing in bowls makes this a clear sign, that is their feed for the day.

Every Sunday, we do 'Hay Only Day'
Hay in their hay rack & hay is placed in their feed bowl.

I have only had one mild case of Gut Statis in the last 7 years, since doing this feeding regime & that case arrived 3days after forgetting 'Hay Only Day'.

🐰 PELLETS-
Over feeding pellets can cause selective feeding, meaning your rabbit's will choose to fill up on pellets & not eat enough hay/dried grass.

If you carnt afford pellets please don't worry.
Feed unlimited hay/dried grass & provide Apple C***r Vinegar 'the mother'.
This will provide the vitamins & minerals needed.

🐰 FRUIT🍌 VEG 🥬 TREATS 🍏-
These actually hold very nutritional value & not as important as your hay/ dried grass.
Most fruit & vegetables actully contain lots of sugar, one carrot for a rabbit is the equivalent to a human eating a Mars bar & a slice or two of apple is comparable to a human eating a cupcake.

Lots of treats contain harmful treat binding ingredients & seeds/corn 🌽 that easily block the intestines, which could be fatal.

🥬 Most types of lettuce are also off the menu, as they contain lactucarium, known as 'lettuce o***m', due to it promoting a mild sensation of euphoria & having sedative effects, which can dangerous to bunnies.
This is why they reccomend ourselves to eat a lettuce sandwich if we can't sleep 😴

I personally reccomend dried herbs 🍃 & flowers 🌹.
Burgess Country Garden/ Mountain Meadow OR Bunny Bistro do a large online selection as well as Bunny bistro.

TOYS:
Toys can vary on your bunny's own choices, however this doesn't have to be exspensive.

📦 Rabbit's love to hide in & jump on cardboard boxes.
Sprinkle dry forage (flowers/ herbs) in to hay & place into box, for them to search for.
A great alternative is add the hay to a used cardboard toilet roll tube.
⭐ Please note: chewing the box to get to forage is perfectly fine, if you bunny is trying to activly chew the whole outer container, regardless of already getting the forage free, i would advise cardboard removal, as again too much can cause a gut blockage.

🧸 Some bunnies love some type of comforter, such as a teddy or blanket.
It doesn't have to be new or bunny specific but again, please remove if they chew these as you don't want to cause a blockage.
I'd go for a fleece type rather than the fluffy fur option.

😼 Cat/pet tunnels are loved by most bunnies & can be found relatively cheaply of around £5 & provide fun & even get used as a snoozing spot.

You can even make untreat wood OR hanging treat toys..
Peg dome treats & nettle forage to a string washing line for your bun to stretch up & nibble 😉

✂️ GROOMING/BRUSHING-
Mini lops & short haired bunnies need very little grooming.
So a quick brush over usually suffices until its molt time.
This happens 4times a year but most noticeable at the end of winter & end of summer where i reccomend a quick brush daily to remove excess fur, so its not digested & causes a blockage.

💅 NAIL CLIPPING- Again this service can vary practice to practice but in our local area seems to vary anywhere between £15-20+ per bunny.

If anyone needs anything or has something to to sell/offer i'm happy to do a shout-out. Your welcome to privately message me & remain anonymous should you wish.

Andd.... of course i'm here if you want to chat, please don't ever feel ashamed, we've been here many times before.
We are all bunny lovers in this togeather, We need to try help & support one another 💛 xx

⭐ OUR SERVICES ⭐

🫂 Bonding: We provide bonding sessions, which is a mix of the 24/7 & daytime bond methods. These require alot of my time to be on hand to make sure your bunnies get my full attention.
If i feel enough progress has been made, their first couple of nights also require alot of overnight check in's.
I'm here to help advise the minimum days required based on the information you provide, for myself to give you that successful outcome & we've had many 🐰🐰
Your also welcome to book for longer should you wish or feel more comfortable doing so.
The more personalities their are to bond, the more days may be needed.
A full true bond can take upto 3/4 months, so you will need to be committed by sticking to some restrictions once they're collected from myself.

💅 Nails: Just £5️⃣ per bunny.

⛱️ Holiday Boarding: We provide hidey houses, mats/bedding, toys, tunnels, litter trays, bottles & bowls.. along with dried grass, hay, bedding & litter for all of our spaces & not forgetting care, love & cuddles 💜
