๐พ๐ถ Grass Seed Season: A Hidden Danger for Dogs ๐ถ๐พ
With the warmer weather here, grass seeds are everywhere โ and while they may look harmless, they can cause serious problems for our four-legged friends.
Grass seeds are small, sharp, and designed to travel. They can easily become trapped in your dogโs paws, ears, eyes, nose, or even burrow into the skin. Left untreated, they can lead to painful infections, abscesses, and in some cases require surgical removal.
โ ๏ธ Signs to watch for:
โข Excessive licking or chewing of paws
โข Head shaking or scratching at the ears
โข Red, swollen, or painful areas on the skin
โข Sneezing repeatedly
โข Eye redness or discharge
โข Sudden limping
โ
How to help prevent problems:
โข Check your dog thoroughly after walks, especially around paws, ears, and armpits
โข Keep fur trimmed around feet and between toes
โข Avoid long grass where possible during grass seed season
If you do notice any of the signs above, we advise not to wait to see if it improves. The sooner a grass seed is found and removed, the better the outcome will be for your pet! ๐
