🐾 OUR YEAR IN NUMBERS: The Impact of Your Support 🐾

As we reflect on our first full year as a registered Scottish charity (SC054134), we want to share the real data of what our team has achieved. From emergency medical responses to intensive mental health interventions, Yogi, Cindy, Buttercup, and our dedicated handlers have been on the front lines making a tangible difference across Scotland.

Our data shows the incredible impact we are making and exactly why your ongoing support is so vital to keeping our operations running.

Our Frontline Statistics

* 🧠 47 In-Person Mental Health Responses: We received and deployed to 47 urgent requests for face-to-face mental health interventions. These are critical situations requiring our specialised Animal Intervention team to provide a calming, lifesaving presence for people in crisis.

* πŸš‘ 8 Emergency First Responder Call-outs: Our team was dispatched 8 times as Community First Responders to provide immediate, lifesaving medical care in the community.

* πŸŽ’ 86 Community Engagements: We completed 86 non-emergency charity events, safety workshops, and school visits, educating the public on water safety, mental health, animal first aid and safty. Bringing smiles to those who need them most.

* 🀝 SFRS Community Asset Register: On 6 July 2026, we were officially added to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Community Asset Register.

Help Us Keep Saving Lives...
Every single milestone, emergency response, and community smile from this past year was made possible by people like you...

As a small charity, we rely entirely on the generosity of our community to fund our insurance, life-saving equipment, and specialized training for our giant Newfoundlands.
Our team is trained, certified, and ready to answer the call but we cannot do it alone.

Please consider donating today to help us sustain our vital work, protect our communities, and save lives across Scotland in our second year and beyond. Every pound stays right here on the ground making a real difference.

Most people who are close to the edge won't call the police...

And most won't go to A&E either.

But they might message you. They might ask for a quick chat. They might say "are you up?" at 2am.

That might be their attempt to communicate..

Why won't they call the police?

Because they don't want sirens outside their house. They don't want to scare their kids, their partner, their neighbours. They don't want to be seen as a criminal, or a problem, or "a danger". They already feel like a burden. The last thing they want is to feel like they are putting people out, or getting into trouble for feeling this low.

They don't want to be handcuffed for having a breakdown.

Why won't they go to A&E?

Because some people can't drive. Some are too young to drive. Some can't afford a taxi at midnight. Some live miles from anywhere.

And if they do get there, they know what waits. Hours and hours under bright lights in a busy waiting room, surrounded by strangers, trying to hold it together when they are already falling apart. Sitting there feeling invisible. Then having to repeat the worst moment of their life to a triage nurse, a doctor, another doctor.

Many have been before and been sent home with a leaflet after waiting hours. That feeling stays with you.

There is also fear. Fear of being sectioned. Fear of not being believed. Fear of being told they are overreacting. Fear that everyone will find out.

So they do something smaller. Something more human.

They reach out to someone they trust.

That message that says "you ok to chat?" That IS the reach for help.

This is exactly why we started Yogi & Cindy Bears - SC054134

We are a Scottish charity based here in the Aberdeenshire North Scotland. We are not the police. We are not A&E.

We are something in between - First Responders highly trained in Alternative Therapy and Mental Health crisis. We offer face-to-face, compassionate, non-clinical help that people are actually willing to accept.

What we offer is:

Face-to-Face Support: We will come to you. Early intervention, compassionate listening, safety focused, confidential and person centred. No sirens, no bright waiting room, no judgement.

Animal Assisted Intervention: Sometimes when words are too hard, Yogi, Cindy and Buttercup do the talking. Our specialist Medical Detection and Therapy Dogs are trained to support anxiety, PTSD, depression, autism, and people who feel completely isolated. They bring comfort, they regulate breathing, they make it safe to talk. Support is free for individuals, one-to-one or in groups.

We bridge the gap: We provide crisis signposting, community awareness, trauma informed wellbeing engagement, and we support families and workplaces too.

You can self-refer by email or phone. You don't need a GP. You don't need to drive anywhere.

If you're struggling tonight:

Please don't sit with it alone. Send that message.

And keep these in your phone:

Samaritans - 116 123 (24hrs) or text SHOUT to 85258
Breathing Space - 0800 83 85 87

You matter more than you know in that dark moment. And there are people and dogs who will come to you, right where you are.

THE REAL POWER OF YOGI & CINDY BEARS ..

πŸš—πŸ’™ Helping a Young Boy Find His Courage Again

A young boy in our community recently went through a frightening car accident while travelling to school. Since then, he’s been too scared to get back into a car the trauma was overwhelming, and every attempt ended in fear.

** His identity is protected for safeguarding, but his story deserves to be told **

While we were at Portlethen Home Bargains, he spotted Cindy, our Medical Support Newfoundland Dog. His whole face changed he relaxed, smiled, and went straight to her. His mum shared how badly an accident had affected him and how they couldn’t get him into a car at all.

Yogi & Cindy Bears SC054134 stepped in with a gentle, child centred plan.

Cindy began working with him, sitting beside him in the car, offering calm, comfort, and reassurance. Step by step, journey by journey, he found his confidence again.

Today, he’s back in the car relaxed, brave, and smiling.
Cindy didn’t just help him travel. She helped him heal.

Thank you to his mum for trusting us, and to Cindy for doing what she does best bringing safety, comfort, and hope.

Little bit different support today by YOGI & CINDY BEARS when received a call that somone when out for a lovely walk, that turned into a K9 First Responder rescue for a almost 70kg Leonberger at Clinterty Wood, Aberdeen.

After a few vital checks and assessing the situation, the best way to move him was by using our rescue cart, and we got him back safely.

When the world stops, love stays awake. ❀️

When a child faces a life-threatening illness or a family is thrown into the nightmare of a serious accident, time stands still.

The hospital becomes your whole world. The beeping machines. The long nights. The waiting. The worrying.

And in those moments, what families need most isn't just medical care it's comfort. It's presence. It's knowing you're not alone.

This is Yogi. 🐾

He is a Medical Support Dog with YOGI & CINDY BEARS Charity.

He doesn't need words. He rests his big, fluffy head gently beside her. He breathes slowly, so she can breathe slowly too. He stays awake, so she can finally fall asleep feeling safe.

Every week across Scotland, Yogi, Cindy and Buttercup provide:

πŸ–€ Mental Health Support - calm, non-judgmental comfort at the bedside when it matters most
πŸ–€ Animal Assisted Intervention - supporting children & adults with autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and rehabilitation
πŸ–€ Comfort, Care & Cuddles - bringing love and hope when everything else feels scary

They don't fix the illness. They hold the hand of the person going through it.

If you have ever seen Yogi's head on a hospital bed, or Cindy & Buttercup's famous wagy bum waddle bringing the first smile in days, you know exactly what we mean.

🐾 THE WAGY BUM PATROL IS ON DUTY! 🐾

Watch out hospital - here comes trouble... double trouble!

It's Cindy & Buttercup from YOGI & CINDY BEARS Charity doing what they do best spreading smiles, cuddles and those famous wagy bums down the corridors! πŸ–€πŸ–€

Every week these two gentle giants bring comfort and joy to patients, staff and families across Scotland through our Animal Assisted Intervention programme supporting adults & children with autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and rehabilitation.

Protecting life, promoting wellbeing, and proving that sometimes the best medicine has four paws and a very wiggly bum.

Turn the sound on πŸ”Š - you can hear that tail wag!

Drop a ❀️ for Cindy & Buttercup in the comments!
