โ„๏ธ A new opportunity to get active on the slopes in Tamworth!

Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) is offering subsidised adaptive snowsport lessons for disabled adults through its new Adaptive Snowsport Pathways Programme.

The programme is designed to support people who may currently be doing little or no physical activity to try something new, build confidence and enjoy being active in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Taking place locally at the SnowDome Tamworth, participants can access:

๐ŸŽฟ Four individual lessons for just ยฃ20 per session (normally ยฃ75)
๐ŸŽฟ Small group sessions to continue developing skills and enjoying the slopes with others
๐ŸŽฟ Support to build confidence, improve physical and mental wellbeing and connect with new people

There are just 60 spaces available across England, so early registration is encouraged.

Weโ€™ve got some exciting news to share!โœจ

Together Active has partnered with Speak Out Safe (SOS) to help make raising a safeguarding or welfare concern simpler and more accessible.

Weโ€™ll be using SOS ourselves, but weโ€™ll also be making it available to leisure centres, gyms, sports clubs, community groups and activity providers across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

People can raise a concern anonymously or by name, with reporting available in 29 languages and an audio option too.
Itโ€™s another way we can support strong safeguarding locally and help make sure everyone can feel safe and supported when being active.

Safeguarding is everyoneโ€™s responsibility!

Keep an eye out for more on SOS and how to get involved! ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿ’™ Have your say. Help shape future National Lottery funding.

National Lottery funding has helped create opportunities for communities across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, supporting projects that make a real difference to people's lives.

Now there's an opportunity to help shape what comes next.

If you've been involved in a National Lottery-funded project, whether as a volunteer, participant, community group or organisation, we'd encourage you to share your experiences.

Your feedback can help ensure future funding continues to reach the communities and projects that need it most.

๐Ÿ‘‡ Find out more in Sport England's post below.

The Government has issued a Call for Evidence on the future of National Lottery Good Causes funding and is encouraging people across the sport and physical activity sector to share their views.

The Call for Evidence looks to gather opinions on how National Lottery funding can continue to deliver the greatest possible benefit for communities, including:
โžก๏ธ How funding reaches good causes
โžก๏ธ How funding empowers local communities
โžก๏ธ How funding is made easier to access.

Whether you're a volunteer, coach, club leader, participant, partner organisation or someone whose life has been impacted by National Lottery funding, we are encouraging you to have your say.

What do girls want from being active?

At our latest Move Your Way Festival, we didn't just introduce girls to new activities, we listened.

By speaking with girls, teachers and support staff throughout the day, we learned more about what helps girls enjoy being active and what encourages them to keep coming back.

Here's some of what we heard:
โœจ Girls want opportunities to have fun and build confidence.
โœจ Trying something new can help girls discover an activity they genuinely enjoy.
โœจ More choice means more girls can find a way to be active that feels right for them.

These insights are helping shape what happens next, with schools voting for the activities they'd like to see return and new opportunities being created based on what girls told us.

๐Ÿ’™ Every movement counts.

Today, we welcome the refreshed UK Chief Medical Officers' Physical Activity Guidelines, reinforcing an important message that every movement counts towards better health and wellbeing.

While the recommendation remains 150 minutes of physical activity each week, the updated guidance places greater emphasis on building strength and balance throughout life, reducing time spent sitting, and recognising that even small amounts of movement can make a real difference.

Whether it's walking to the local shops, cycling instead of driving, playing with children in the park, improving strength through simple exercises at home or joining a local activity group, there's no single way to be active.

Our CEO, Carly Jones, said:

"The updated guidance reflects something we've long believed; that helping people move more isn't about asking them to do more, it's about making it easier for movement to become part of everyday life."

At Together Active, we're proud to work alongside partners across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to help create healthier, more active communities where everyone has the opportunity to move more.
