‼️Important notice for ALL clients ‼️

Hope Vets now has a new policy that affects ALL imported dogs!
If your dog has been imported from abroad (from any year), we will be asking for a Brucella Test once they have been in the UK for at least 3 months.

Brucella is a bacteria that is carried by dogs and can be passed onto humans. Dogs can be carriers and show no symptoms and with an increase in pets traveling abroad and being rescued from abroad the number of reported dogs with Brucella in the UK has risen. It can cause serious health concerns so we want to protect our staff and clients.

We will always treat your pets in an emergency but we will take extra precautions and wear full PPE during emergency treatments.
However, we are asking for proof of a negative Brucella test from APHA before treating patients for routine procedures if your pet has been outside the UK.

Please contact the surgery if you wish to see our full Brucella policy and to arrange a blood test.
Thank you for your understanding.

FROM ROUND TO RENOWNED! 🐾🏆

Huge rounds of applause (and maybe a few healthy carrots) for Maisie, who officially reached their target weight today!
When Maisie first joined our Weight Clinic, they had a little too much "love" to carry around. After 7 months of hard work, portion control, and extra walks, they are officially at their healthiest weight.

Weight loss in pets isn't just about the scale—it’s about protecting their joints, heart, and overall happiness. We are so proud of Maisie and her family for their dedication!

🔔 Important Update: Changes to the Pet Travel Scheme from 22nd April 2026 🐾✈️

Dear Clients,

We’d like to inform you of important updates to the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) that come into effect from 22nd April 2026.

These changes may affect how you travel with your pets between the UK and EU countries, so it’s important to plan ahead.

🐶 What’s changing?

From 22 April 2026, new EU rules will apply to the non‑commercial movement of dogs, cats and ferrets entering the EU from Great Britain.

‼️An EU PET PASSPORT, issued to or held by a pet owner who is resident in Great Britain, will NO LONGER BE A VALID document for travelling with pets from GB to the EU. This applies to EU pet passports issued in an EU Member State or Northern Ireland, including
those issued before 22 April 2026.
‼️EU pet passports may only be issued to owners whose main residence is within the European Union.

🚨THIS MEANS THAT IF YOU CURRENTLY HAVE AN EU PET PASSPORT ISSUED IN THE EU YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO USE IT TO TRAVEL FROM THE UK AS OF TOMORROW

GB residents travelling to the EU with a pet dog, cat or ferret will need to obtain an
Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for travel from 22 April 2026.

There are no changes to GB entry requirements.

🐱 What you need to do:
✔️ Contact us well in advance of your travel date. An Animal Health Certificate can be completed between 1 and 10 days before travel

✔️ Ensure your pet’s vaccinations are up to date. A rabies vaccination must have been given at least 21 days before an AHC can be competed.

✔️ Book an appointment for the necessary paperwork and health checks

⚠️ Please note: Failure to meet the new requirements could result in delays or your pet being unable to travel.

Our team is here to help guide you through the process and make sure your pet is fully prepared for travel.

📞 If you’re planning a trip, please get in touch with us as soon as possible to discuss your pet’s specific requirements.

Thank you for your continued trust and support 💙
