🐾 We’re officially a Dog Friendly Practice! 🐶💙

We’re delighted to share that our practice has officially become a Dog Friendly Practice through Dogs Trust! 🎉

Our wonderful Registered Veterinary Nurse, Abbie, took the lead in carrying out the process and helping us make sure our practice is as welcoming and comfortable as possible for our canine patients.

A really important part of being a dog friendly practice is socialisation visits. These are relaxed, positive visits where your dog can pop in to see us without having anything done to them. 🐕✨

The aim is to help dogs become familiar with the sights, sounds, smells and people at the practice, so that when they do need to come in for treatment, it hopefully feels like a much less stressful experience.

So, if your dog is nervous about visiting the vets, or even if they’re just a little unsure, we’d love to welcome them in for a socialisation visit. ❤️

A huge well done and thank you to Abbie for all her hard work in helping us achieve this!

We look forward to seeing plenty of happy tails at the practice! 🐾

⚠Blue-Green Algae Warning⚠

We have seen a rise in some dogs encountering blue-green algae this month. We are asking dog owners to take extra precautions when walking their pets near water bodies this summer.

Sightings of the algae can be reported with a photo on the UK Centre
for Ecology & Hydrology’s Bloomin’ Algae app - https://tinyurl.com/y2yfaxt2

🐾Ron the Chow Chow came in for his second vaccination today and was an absolute star for Nurse Leah! 🐶

💙 Did you know? Chow Chows are an ancient Chinese breed and are one of the few dog breeds with a distinctive blue-black tongue. It's a normal genetic trait of the breed, caused by extra pigment, rather like how some people have birthmarks or freckles.

Comment with some photos of your pets showing off their tongues! 😝

🐾🌱Sprout was such a good girl when she came in to see nurse Becki for her 2nd vaccinations recently. She enjoyed lots of treats for being so brave.

We will see her again in the next few weeks for her development checks, one of the perks of being on the Pet Health Plan. 🩷

🐾Lovely Lottie🐾 Lottie came into us recently to see Vet Emma and Nurse Becki for her spey procedure. She was such a sweetie while in with us and enjoyed lots of fuss before and after her procedure. She also brought her favourite teddy along for moral support 🥰. She has since been back in and has been signed off to get back to her normal routine.
There are pros and cons to neutering; it may not always be the best option for your dog. For example, it stops accidental litters and helps to calm moods, but you may need to wait until they are a certain age due to predisposed problems. It is best to book in for a pre-neuter check to discuss this with the team.

At our practice, we're committed to providing the highest standard of care not just every day, but when the unexpected happens too.

Recently, every member of our team took part in Veterinary CPR training. Regular training is essential to ensure we can respond to emergency situations with confidence, efficiency, and a coordinated team approach. When every second matters, being well prepared can make a real difference.

For our vets and veterinary nurses, this training also contributes towards their Continuing Professional Development (CPD), helping them maintain and develop the skills needed to provide the very best care throughout their careers.

We're proud to invest in ongoing training for our entire team because your pets deserve a practice that's always learning, always improving, and always ready.
