⭐️ Bonnie’s Story - Addison’s disease ⭐️
Bonnie is a 5 year old cockerpoo who presented to us very unwell. After some diagnostics, Bonnie was diagnosed with a rare condition called Addison’s disease- where the adrenal glands fail to produce enough hormones which are essential for managing the body’s electrolytes and other functions.
She was currently experiencing an “Addisonian crisis” due to the imbalance of her electrolytes, which caused her to feel very unwell and impact her organs.
Thankfully, after hospitalisation to replenish her body’s hormone and electrolyte levels, rehydrate her and manage the other symptoms, we are pleased to say Bonnie is stable and has her usual bounce back! Her treatment has been closely managed by vets Tara and Becky, and received lots of 1:1 nursing care whilst hospitalised with our brilliant nursing team.
She will be on long term medications to manage her condition, but we are very pleased at how well she is doing.
What a superstar!
