✨ Meet Sara! ✨

We’re delighted to welcome Sara to the Wynyard Vets team as our Receptionist and Animal Nursing Assistant! 🐾

Sara is from Billingham and has spent the past five years working with animals as a Veterinary Assistant and Receptionist. She is passionate about animal care and loves being part of a profession that makes a difference to the lives of pets and their families 💙

Alongside her experience working with animals, Sara has many years of customer service and reception experience. She understands the importance of providing a warm, friendly welcome and ensuring every client feels supported from the moment they walk through the door.

Known for her adaptable and caring approach, Sara enjoys helping both clients and patients and is always ready to lend a hand wherever needed within the practice.

Outside of work, Sara shares her home with her two rescue French Bulldogs, who keep her busy and fuel her love for all things canine 🐶🐶

✨ Meet Victoria! ✨

We’re delighted to welcome Victoria to the Wynyard Vets team as Veterinary Receptionist! 🐾

Victoria brings over 20 years of customer care experience, including 10 years working within veterinary practice. She’ll be one of the friendly faces welcoming clients and their pets to the practice, always happy to help and support wherever she can 🩷

Having worked in both Reception and as an Insurance Clerk within veterinary practices, Victoria holds qualifications in both areas. Pet insurance is a particular area of interest for her, and she enjoys helping clients understand their options and guiding them through the process every step of the way.

Outside of work, Victoria has always had a love of cats and shares her home with her husband, son, and their two cats 🐱

Victoria is looking forward to being part of the Wynyard Vets team and giving everyone a warm welcome to the practice! 🎉

🌟Harriet Broom BSc 🌟 Registered Veterinary Nurse🌟

We’re excited to welcome Harriet, RVN, to our team 🐾

Harriet holds a degree in Bioveterinary Science (BSc) and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2018. She brings valuable experience in emergency and critical care, along with a real passion for supporting and mentoring student nurses.

Outside of work, Harriet is kept busy with her two young children and her husband, as well as her two dogs — a lively Border Collie and a much-loved older Staffie 🐶💙

🌟 Sarah Whem 🌟 Registered Veterinary Nurse 🌟

Sarah qualified in 2016 and brings a wealth of experience, having worked in first opinion practice, out of hours, and emergency care — including referral nursing and ICU settings. She has a real passion for emergency and critical care, as well as a special interest in building trust with nervous and anxious patients.

Sarah is also working towards becoming Fear Free certified, helping to ensure every visit is as calm and stress-free as possible for our patients 💙

Outside of work, Sarah lives locally with her partner and her Border Collie, Benji 🐶. She enjoys spending time outdoors and going on long walks.

Now the mezzanine is in place it gives a great view of our huge waiting room! So much natural light with high ceilings 🥰. We will be dividing the area in to separate dog and cat waiting zones that lead in to our 4 consult rooms.

✨ Kayleigh Thomas FdSc RVN NCert (anaesNSG) 🌟 Head Veterinary Nurse

Kay is a proud North East local and has spent her career caring for pets and supporting their families across the region. With a degree in Veterinary Nursing, she brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and hands-on experience to the team.

Throughout her career, Kay has developed a particular interest in anaesthesia and has completed additional qualifications in this area. Her expertise helps ensure that pets undergoing procedures receive the safest, highest standard of care, with careful monitoring and attention every step of the way.

As our Head Nurse, Kay plays a key role in supporting both the clinical team and our patients, making sure every visit runs smoothly and every pet feels as comfortable as possible.

Outside of the clinic, Kay lives locally with her husband and their two children, and enjoys spending quality time with her family.

She’s excited to continue caring for the wonderful pets in our community and getting to know even more of their families. 🐾

Dr Sarah Carney 🌟 BVSc PgCert SAS MRCVS 🌟Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Owner

Sarah was born in Australia but grew up in London – which explains the accent that people often try to guess! She has lived and studied in several places over the years before settling in the North East after qualifying as a vet 14 years ago.

She has worked in several practices across the region, most recently as Clinical Director at a local corporate practice. After many years in practice, Sarah decided to open her own independent clinic so she could offer the kind of personal, community-focused care she believes pets and their owners deserve.

Sarah has a particular interest in surgery and holds additional qualifications that allow her to perform more complex procedures.

She lives locally with her husband Scott and their two young children. At home she has two ginger cats, Pumpkin and Squash 🐾

She’s really looking forward to getting to know the local pets and their families.
